Water wings extraordinary
A legacy of my unfinished book project that I had been working on previously is that I find enjoyment in browsing and researching historic archives on the web. Having a few spare hours today I found a wonderful photo collection from the National Museum of the U.S. Navy on Flickr. This inspired this selection of images which is devoted to the recent Water Wings Group Build (being late to the party!). The pictures are presented such as they are, Rob Pollock-style.
Seaplanes have a given place in aviation history and by the look of these photos, they were always something special.

Any ideas what the aircraft at #94 is ?
David, Curtiss SC-1 scout plane, the last of the genre. They flew off capital ships, like BBs and CAs, like their predecessors, the OS2Us, SOCs. Catapalt launched, landing alongside after, to be brought aboard by crane on the fantail. Spotting for the guns.
