1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18A VFC-12 Fighting Omars

April 21, 2020 · in Aviation · · 22 · 3.6K

Hello everyone,
This is my 1/48 F/A-18A in “ambush” splinter scheme. Gunze Mr. Hobby paints and flat clear with MLT used. Gloss coat is with future. Lastly, decals are from Furball Aero-Design decals. Oh and lots of Tamiya tape too. Lol.

  11. That's an amazing build mate, really impressive!
I know what a splinter camo entails, a lot of hard work has went into this one, but the end result is fantastic and worth it!
Just had a look at your other posts, all amazing as well. I see you like your Hornets!
I've got the latest Eduard F-18 in the stash and it looks like a great kit.

    • Richard,
The moment I saw some pictures of adversary hornets I got hooked! I just have to model them. The Eduard super hornet should be an amazing model to build.

      • What’s the story behind the Russian markings on the jets?

        • The role of adversary jets are to mimic russian jets for simulated air combat. Hence the russian markings and paint scheme worn by russian jets.

          • I see... I'm really tempted to build my hornet in Russian camo now, I've got plenty spare Russian decals. But I also really liked the plain grey Tomcatters squadron markings I've got in the box.
Could always build two hornets I suppose.
Anyway mate, this is one of the best models I've seen posted on iModeler! Personal taste of course! But a memorable build for me. Outstanding modelling!

  12. Richard thank you very much for the compliment. The build really was both enjoyable and a struggle at times. But overall I am really happy how it turned out. Good luck on your future build.

  13. Great job sir! I like it a lot!
