Maschinen Krieger 1/20 Lun 168 Camel
Finished the 1/20 Hasegawa Camel Lun 168. This was painted using Mission Models Paints. Lots of painting (over 40 colors involved), chipping, scrubbing, and listening to 70s music went into this bad boy. I'll be putting out a downloadable How-to on this kit very soon. It'll not only teach you how to build one of these, but will also contain invaluable techiniques and methods for using Mission Models paints for any subject that calls out for weathering and distressing. See more about this build soon at http://www.georgesmodels.com
This kit was a lot of fun and because it is Sci-fi, I decided to go a little nuts with the colors. I finished an Amodel Mi-6 helicopter a week before I started this one so this was a real treat and pleasure in comparison.
Amazing! Hard to believe it's a model and not a real thing, George!
All the best!
Thanks, Spiros. It's almost as big as the real thing. It's a large model and now I have to build a suitable base for it. I'm running out of room.
Great work on this George - wonderfully calibrated weathering!
Thanks, David. I didn't know how I was going to paint it until I had completed all the assembly. I must have painted that cockpit sphere 8 times. It started out polished aluminum, then gold, sripped all that off, then painted it gold again, painted it Hull red, then painted it orange, but it looked to much like a navel orange so I started scrubbing the paint of to reveal the red and gold underneath.
Fantastic work!
The worn and weathered paint looks amazing!
Incredible Work!
Outstanding work; the color scheme is terrific; gives me thoughts on some of mine. Thank you.
You're welcome. Good luck with yours.
awesome
All of the above. I will be following the link.
Looks more like a lunar construction vehicle than a combat one. Well done!
That's exactly right! I was thinking of an army surplus vehicle repuposed as a commercial construction/surveying machine.
such an lovely awesome killer Camel!
Thank you all very much.
Nicely done!
Super job George! I've got the Mk.44 Ammo Knights on my build short list, and your work is now motivating me to move it to the top of the pile. The weathering on your Camel is amazing, and I can use a lot of your techniques when constructing the Mk.44.
Thanks for the inspiration,
Scott
Thanks, Scott. Glad it's motivating you. These Ma.K. kits really allow you to go wild.
Beautiful build George and marvelous pictures. The metallic effect is great and I love the weathering telling a story. Bravo!
