Carrier Force Three

February 27, 2021 · in Ships · 5 · 2.1K

Recently completed carrier force. Being a Naval Veteran I'm partial to, yeah you guessed it, naval ships. Pictured here are the following. The U.S.S. Nimitz CVN-68 in its 2005 appearance, the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 in its 2006 appearance depicting the final deployment of the F-14 Tomcat, which by the way started out as the "72" but due to too much damage to the "71" caused by my daughter I redid as the "71", and the U.S.S. G. B. Foringer CVN-98 (named in honor of my late father-in-law). All 3 ships are from the Trumpeter line of 1/700 CVNs. They are a fun build. I only lost 1 piece to the "Carpet Gremlin" while building the "Nimitz". Luckily having built 2 CVNs previously I had plenty of spare. Both the "68" and "71" have 12 small LEDs installed in each. I built a custom display case for the "71" and plan on one for the "68" when I get the power supply pack for it. I said to myself that after I finish placing the aircraft and ships personnel on the "68" I swore I wouldn't build another carrier for a while. Bad news is I must be insane because I have the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln CVN-72 on order. Only 7 more Nimitz class CVNs to go and I'll have the whole class.

  1. Nice fleet! I was on Nimitz during its first Med cruise. that sure dates me.

  2. Nice, Brian. Gotta love multiple carrier models! I built an Italeri Reagan a few years ago for a man whose son was serving aboard her. It was a very enjoyable project.

Enjoyable model work Brian. Nice clean work on all.
Once having the whole collection all built, it will be a very impressive attraction and a good conversation subject.
    Hope too see the display.

  4. Impressive job, Brian!
