Nice to see so many Avengers in the early-war USN paint scheme, and on carriers, that's news to me. Just a first quick glance at this and I've learned something already.
Thanks Tom.
VT-8 was aboard Enterprise at Eastern Solomons and VT-5 aboard Saratoga at Eastern Solomons. Hornet had TBF-1s at Santa Cruz and VT-8 was back aboard Enterprise forSanta Cruz the Naval Battles of Guadalcanal.
A treasure trove of photos. The flight deck photos shows that while the technology has changed the basic function of personnel in many ways is still the same i.e. deck handlers, plane captains, aircraft fuelers.
Such pics are so helpful modeling wise and quite important historically.
Thanks for the link, @tcinla!
Thanks for sharing, kind sir

Wow, again news to me, thanks.
The following is a completely self=serving advertisement for me and my books:
"Under The Southern Cross: the Allied Campaign Against Rabaul - 1942-1944" comes out on May 20 and is available for pre-order at Amazon.
The stuff mentioned in my notes above is gone into in-depth in the book.
Thanks Tom.
