Panzer VII "Löwe"
Usually I am not into “Paper Panzers”, but some of them I find very hard to resist. Like the Löwe from Amusing Hobby I finished recently. I really like the tough and heavy look of this vehicle! Because historical accuracy plays a less significant role in this case (none was ever built as far as I know) I used my imagination a little and added some extra’s to this model.
First I replaced the kit barrel by the RB Model barrel for the 12.8 cm Kanone 43. This is easily done and this heavy barrel suits the model much better than the smaller kit barrel. The Friul tracks also really add to the heavy look of this tank. Smaller details I found in my spares box like the tools from Tamiya´s Jagdtiger, the stowage box from a Panther (Dragon), some Lion Roar metal tow cables, Tasca Bosch lights, and RB antenna and shackles. I also added anti air attack shields, anti hollow charge shields, tie down loops for camouflage and cleaning rods, all from scratch. I replaced the road wheels by items from a King Tiger from Dragon which I had lying around, because they have much better detail.
Painting was done with Tamiya paints thinned with lacquer thinner, and Vallejo for most of the details. Different pigments and pastels to finish the weathering.
This is a wonderful model, Erik, a great what if subject.
It would be great if you shared your builds here.
Welcome aboard!
Welcome aboard, Erik and great first submission. Paper or not the paint, weathering and attention to detail are well done.
What an amazing first entry, Erik @erikvkok
Superb detailing and weathering.
Welcome to this great community and I would love to see more of your builds as well.
Some strong work in the tank dept. With some smart, neat, construction.
Looking forward to seeing some of your next modeling adventures Erik.
Two thumbs up.
Beatifully done, great weathering!
I really enjoy seeing tank builds of this quality. Great job!
Gorgeous work! The turret surface really looks like raw cast iron…and the paint work is perfect.
I believe I have knocked out a few of these “Lions” while playing WoT 😉
Oh! And welcome to iModeler
Looks like a German Stalin tank, seriously bad a## !
Those tracks look terrific.
@erikvkok, That is amazing work with a superb result! Wow! ? ?
