Wings Over Houston - 2022
A few images from last weekend. A tough two years after rebuilding the SB2C-5 Engine and numerous problems with Carbs and a pesky Generator seal, the Beast is flying again and the engine is tight and purring.
Weather at this year's show was terrible on Saturday, but Sunday brought bright skies and a great performance by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. Since I was working both days at the Plane during the mornings, didn't get as many shots as usual, but I got a few good ones. Hope you enjoy.

Here is a cool video from a friend of mine.
Great video, thanks!
Hey James, thanks for posting! Beautiful pictures! @jamesb
Thank you Michel @michel-verschuere. Now that the season is basically over, I hope to get back to the bench!
Great pictures, thanks for sharing.
Nice pic's James, thanks for posting.
Great photos, thanks!
Thanks for sharing all these, James!
What a wonderful show!
Some really amazing pictures James, I'd love to see a B29 in the flesh.
Stunning airshow, James @jamesb
Even an airworthy 262, and a lot more of interesting aircraft.
Thank you John @johnb. See my response below to George about the Me-262. It's actually a replica.
@jamesb, even if it is just a replica, it will be fantastic to see it passing by.
Awesome photos, video, and that B-29 is a beauty!
Great photos and video, James (@jamesb). It looks like it was a great show. I didn't know there were any airworthy Me-262s around. It is really cool to see a Helldiver flying, too. When I was stationed at Randolph flying T-37s, I used to use Ellington as the first leg for the cross countries for my students. We would fly the leg low level using visual flight rules.
Glad you like the photos and video George. The Me-262 is actually a replica with General Electric C610 jet engines. “White 1” – a B-1c is a two-seater operated by the Collings Foundation here in Houston. I believe that there is only one original Md-262 that is flying today and there are several in restoration, last I read. Collings has a sub-group dedicated to Vietnam era A/C. See here: https://www.vietnamwarflight.com/
Ric Sharpe, the founder, flew both the Me-262 and the Douglas A-1D Skyraider on Sunday. He flies those and many of the other jets in the collection quite a bit. They have an F4 Phantom, an A-4 Skyhawk, and a T-33A Shooting Star, all in flyable condition and available for rides/check flights.
Here is an article from 2019 that has a plethora of information: https://acesflyinghigh.wordpress.com/2019/08/17/the-survivors-messerschmitt-me-262-germanys-jet-fighter/#:~:text=Only%20nine%20surviving%20original%20Messerschmitt,of%20post%20war%20Czechoslovakian%20variants.
Nice photos and video. The crew chief at the end looked like he wanted to get burned by the pitot tube.

I have not been too active on Imodeler lately and I'm sorry I missed these pictures you took. You have some incredible skills, and please accept our condolences for the loss.
