Dragon Armoured Jeep
Greetings and salutations fellow modelers!
This is the 1/35th scale Dragon armoured jeep. I saw this kit on Ebay and it caught my attention immediately. Bit of a challenge to build, directions are lacking in clarity and omit some part installations completely. The decals are Cartograph with the big star on the hood an Archer dry transfer. Dragon always has crisp molding and great details along with providing a photo-etch sheet. The accuracy and look of the classic Bantam/Willys jeep is captured very well.
Painted with a combination of Tamiya & Vallejo paints & weathered using some old Polly S colors along with weathering powders to make the "mud". "Cover it with mud" is an armour modeler's saying...so I did! Hope you all enjoy! Keep on modeling!
P.S. My photography, background and lighting need improvement dramatically. That is one area I must make an investment in proper equipment.
A great result of a not so often seen subject, Jim @jaltergott6
I was not aware that they used those jeeps in this way.
The covering with mud is perfectly done.
Thanks John. I had never seen this vehicle in any pictures I have in my book collection. I jumped into this build without doing any research on it. I like the way it turned out. Painting & weathering was much more enjoyable than building it! Thanks again for your comments!
A wonderful result, Jim! Excellent painting and weathering!
Thanks Spiros! I really like the way this kit turned out, a lot of fun to paint & weather. I have to get some photos of my Il-2 Sturmovik. You built the Accurate Miniatures kit and I have the same model.
Great job, Jim! All that mud really makes it look the part while not being overdone. A beautiful, beat up replica!
Thank you very much! I am thankful for your advice and assistance in this project. I look forward to viewing your first posting on Imodeler! 👍
Great work, Jim! Bring it to NIMCON next summer when I come up to see y’all.
Thanks John! I want to put this vehicle in a vignette or simple display to show it off. But an interesting idea of entering it for NIMCON. Thanks for the suggestion
Nice work on this, Jim, not too much wrong with your photography either.
Thank you George! I appreciate your comments. Sharing my work on Imodeler is part of what makes modeling fun 🙂
Good.
Thank you very much!
Awesome build! Weathering and all.
