37 - 1/63 AMT X-Wing Fighter
Ah sci fi - I love it - the ability to go wild and it doesn't matter what you do.
I opened this box up - a special edition one to find aweful gold plated sprues, that was definitely not going to cut it.
So into a bleach bath it went - down to the plastic and then primer - now we can start.
From the start I wanted to do a different X-wing and when I saw the black and white Cavern Angels Squadron from Rogue One that was it, I had to, but I also wanted it to look like it had been through some really tough battles.
The challenge was how to make scratches show under both black and white paint, as neither metallic or dark or light colours would show under bots, so Green Chromate was the go to.

After the green I used hairspray to do the chipping but first had to mask and paint the black and white angled patterns.
Then the chipping began, using cotton buds and a toothpick I started removing paint - was a tedious bud fun process, and at the end a great result - but still too clean.
So I made a brown/grey wash and used that to give an overall dirty look to the model. And then... I called it done.
A wonderful build, Anthony!
Thanks so much Spiros @fiveten
A great job, Anthony @anthonyricco the camouflage used seems spectacular to me. Bravo!
Thanks so much @federicoschulze - a bit different to the usual ones.
It means nothing to me, Anthony, but it looks great.
Hahahaha - as long as it looks great then I'm happy. Thanks @chinesegeorge.
@anthonyricco - Fantastic work! I saw 'A New Hope' in theaters when I was 7 and I've been a fan ever since. I love that the box says it's a Highly Finished Gold Tone. The molded in pilot is pretty great as well. The original kit definitely received an upgrade by being bleached and then finished in the Cavern Angels scheme. The chipping and weathering look great.
Haha - thanks Brian @brithebuilder, yeah very far from highly finished and the pilot half melted into the chair, uh no thanks - thats why I tried some reflective effects on the canopy.
Thanks for the compliments.
Cool looking X-wing!
Thanks so much @roofrat
A fantastic X-wing, Anthony @anthonyricco
The chosen scheme is really something different but does look amazing.
Also the weathering is done perfectly.
Well done.
Thank you @johnb - appreciate the comment, yes wanted to try something out of the ordinary and experiment with some techniques.
Awesome transformation 👏🏼
Thanks so much Gavin - was a lot of fun.
