1/32 Pacific Coast Models Hawker Hurricane Mk.1 (Early)

July 18, 2023 · in Aviation · · 15 · 295

This is my 1/32 PCM Hawker HBurricane Mk.1 (Early) with the markings of L1599 from 56 Sqn in North Weald 1938.
I deleted exagereted fasteners on the fuselage halves and rescribed them.
Kit was built OOB except for some upgradings in cockpit and Grey Matters two blade propeller
The control stick and pilot seat swapped with old “Grey Matters” goodies.
Early type pitot tube is scracthbuilt
I used Gunze Sangyo acrylics for upper camouflage, Tamiya acrylics ve Alclad metalizers for lower surfaces
Upperwing and fuselage roundels are from my spare box.
Undersides roundels are from Xtradecals
Unit emblem on the tail, L1599 codes and “White L” are produced by Customhobbydecals.

Happy modelling

  1. Happy modelling indeed, Tolga, that’s a lovely looking Hurricane, to my poor old eyes so much better looking than the Spitfire. Let’s not forget which plane actually won the Battle of Britain.

  2. A superlative result, the usual Tolga masterpiece!
    Well done!

  3. Tolga, you always do impressive work, but I especially like the Hurricane and you have finished it so well. Can you tell us what color of green you used for the seat? And is that the kit canopy? It looks very good. My last question, I have not used cupped punches to replace dzus fasteners, but I like your result. How big of a hammer did you use?🙃 I am kidding of course. Do you heat the punch and press it in? Again, great work and photography.

    • Thanks Russell @russjurco
For RAF interior grey green I used a mix of Tamiya XF71 cockpit green and white.
For fasteners, I have used the attached tool. No need to heat it. It is enough to press a little and turn it half a turn around itself.

      • Tolga, thanks for the images and the description of the process on the interior green color and the fasteners. I will look into acquiring a punch if not a set of punches.

  4. Good looking model as always! The extra touches and small details really make it a stand-out.

  5. I'm always inspired by your builds - this one beautifully executed!

  6. This early Hurricane looks really great, Tolga @tolgaul
    Well done.

  7. Having built one of these, tolga, I know what effort you put in to this great result. Very impressive.
