1/72 Fujimi RF-86F30

June 18, 2024 · in Aviation · · 10 · 203

This is the Fujimi 1/72 F-86 family. I swapped the wings from the RF-86F40 'WoodPeccker' boxig with a Fujimi F-86F30 to do the 'Haymaker' FU-864 RF-86F30 USAF which was featured in the Hasegawa 1/48 boxing---Hard to find now. I used the box art as a guideline for the markings & style. I figure the 1/48 Hasegawa offering was pretty accurate. IT seems Fujimi could have done this version pretty easily with the plastic they released. Still probably the best 1/72 Sabre ! eventhough the Airfix kit has some interesting options but not as fine as the Fujimi.

This is another one for my growing 1/72 Sabre Collection [CAC Avon sabre conversion from previous post]. Primarily built out of box except for seatbelts and of course the decals which were cobbled together from a few 1/72 Sabre kits I have.

...Next one will be a 1/72 Sabre Mark6 conversion from Fujimi to do Hartmans' Black Tulip.

  1. Looks great! Some of those venerable Fujimi kits build up really well (I'm partial to their A-6 series)!

    • Thank you

I wholeheartedly agree about the Fujimi 1/72 kits. Here is my A-6A Fujimi top notch kit

So is the A-7 Series & of course the A-4's!

  2. Well done, Steven. Excellent metal work. That has to be one of the rarest Sabres of them all.

  3. Very nice looking Sabre, Steven @sjcorvi

  7. Nicely done Steven, different !

  8. Steve (@sjcorvi), it is terrific to see a reconnaissance aircraft so nicely constructed and presented. Aerial reconnaissance from even the Civil War with observation balloons to the ever modified and still in service U-2 has been critical to our military. It was so critical during WWII and the Korean and Vietnam Wars. It is nice to see some of that history recognized. Thank you for sharing you excellent model.

  9. Thanks guys IT was a fun build
