48 Scale Hobbycraft F7U-3M CUTLASS

January 20, 2020 · in Aviation · · 2 · 2.1K

Again, next to no "in-progress" building photos. The windscreen was painted on the inside then it was glued onto the fuselage by using Future Floor Wax, (FFW). I coated the seam with thin super glue and sanded the outside from 320 down to 2000 grit wet sandpaper, then finished the rest of the model build. Later I masked the windscreen and canopy and polished them with my "Blue Magic" metal/plastic cream then painted them along with the airplane with the SnJ Spray Metal "ALUMINUM" paint. I used Waldron "PE" buckles in the cockpit.

I'm enclosing a couple photos of a @"Walter Soplata's" home which I took when I was there in 1987. Back then it was called: "Collection and/or Junk Yard."

  1. Built a few of these in my lifetime! It's fun to build the -3M version so one can hang the orange Sparrow I missiles! Can't wait to see the real thing in the air! https://warbirdwatcher.com/2017/01/30/project-cutlass-vought-f7u-restoration/comment-page-1/#comment-3120
