1/32 Hasegawa P-40N-1 Warhawk “Ruth A”
This is 1/32 Hasegawa P-40N-1 flown by Lt.G.L.Walston, , 16th FS 51st FG, Kunming, China 1944.
Base kit is 1/32 Hasegawa P-40M with some after market modifications.
Cockpit modified by Eduard PE set.
Exhaust stacks and wheels replaced with Eduard resins.
Decals are from Eduard P-40N Warhawk kit.
Note that the aircraft lacked the national insignia on the top of the left wing.
Paints :Gunze Sangyo acrylics.

The P-40 is one of my Faves! and this one is really nice. I love your paint work, it shows the weathering and aging without looking like you are forcing it. Very nice and I wish I could match it in my finish work...Beautiful!

Beautiful piece of art. Can you perhaps tell us about the origin of the unusual camoflauge pattern? The 'green blobs' on the leading and trailing edges of the wing just don't seem right to me. I know it's authentic, but why was that done and in what way was it better. Any idea?
That was standard Curtiss paintwork on the P-40N. It was also standard on some other USAAF aircraft of the period like the A-20G. The idea was to break up the outline shape. Turned out to not be that successful, but the P-40Ns all got it.

Some aircraft where made to ware the sharks mouth... the intake scoop lends its self to be the perfect canvas it's, so cliche. Just as s lot AVG Flying Tiger kits get built that it becomes ad nau·se·am. Or a big yawn. However, Tolga your build...you've gotten away with it by making the common just a tad different to make interesting.
