Zhuhai Air Show 2022
The Zhuhai Air Show is one of the biggest in China and is normally run every other year.
This year’s show is the first since the Covid-19 epidemic. I was hoping to go but the city where I live is in lockdown.
Zhuhai is on the south west coast of China next to Macau.
My friend sent me these pictures, hope you like them.
What a great show, my friend George!
Thanks for sharing these wonderful pics!
You’re more than welcome, Spiros @fiveten.
Must have been an amazing air show, George @chinesegeorge
A pity you were not able to visit.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, John @john , yes, hopefully I’ll be able to go to the next one in two years’ time.
Nice aerobatics George !
I hope we never have to use these technologies.
Thanks, Bernard @bernardbedeur, yes, let’s hope so.
Interesting how much European/US technology is on display. They don't even hide the results of their "computer virtuosity" any more.
Yeah, whatever, @tcinla, it’s always interesting to hear a different point of view.
Thanks for the great photos, George (@chinesegeorge). It is interesting how much these planes look like their western counterparts. Many years ago I was in one of my aerodynamics classes and the topic of why aircraft in other countries look similar to American planes came up. It was the professor's opinion that when you design a high-performance plane to fly in a particular flight regime that the aerodynamics dictates what the plane must look like, so planes designed to fly in a similar flight regime will tend to look the same. Anyway, some really nice and detailed photos of some very interesting planes. I am sorry to hear that you are in lockdown, George. Hopefully the issue will be resolved quickly.
Thanks, George @gblair, I think it happens in many fields of design these days, modern cars look the same, as do mobile phones, etc. Thank goodness the lockdown restrictions are easing a little now, but traveling is still difficult.
Thanks for posting George, I like the smoke colours.
Thanks for looking, Alan @kalamazoo, I thought you might like them. The Chinese are very fond of bright primary colours.
Great set of pictures George , with regard to aircraft looking similar ,and any other mass produced product for that matter , I think if I were a designer I would look at what my competitors were doing and take the best of their ideas and try to improve where I could , why not ?
Hi Neil @neil-foster, thanks, it’s always good to hear from you, and I’m sure designers look at each others’ work, as you say, why wouldn’t they.
