Cabin Modeling 2023
Time for the annual trip to the cabin on gorgeous Lake George N.Y. Been bringing a Tamiya with me the last couple of years, and knocking it out sitting by the Lake in my "Free" time. This year's selection was the new Panzerjager IV L 70 (A) or something like that, and as usual it was an enjoyable slammer with few challenges. Armor is ideal for Cabin Modeling as no paint is involved, just slappin' parts together. This one attracted me with it's unique screen side skirts, and should look spiffing in the "ambush" sheme. Finished that, and started to do some sub-assemblies on the IBG 1/32 PZL P-11 I have been trying to get to. Such a gorgeous place, such a short week. They always are.
My Sunny Son Kyle joined us this year, and he was a very busy boy too. He's working on (Two) Hurricanes and a 1/48 B-29, with LOADS of aftermarket. Ambitious indeed. He actually had some paints with him too, for the interior work.
The Timberland shoe box You see in the pics was first used by Kyle when he started out, maybe he was 7, 8? Now it has been appropriated by me and contains all the tools glue and sundries. I'll use it till it falls apart.
Oh well back home in the flatlands. I miss my Happy place. Next year the Wife will be retired. Maybe we can get 2 weeks? Gonna need more Tamiyas.

Being in nature, having an outdoor bench filled with kits and a cup of coffee, what more to wish.
Looks lovely up there- that porch screams for a drink! I stopped working on more than one kit at a time. I noticed i start to rush things when doing so, it actually stresses me out sometimes.
Very cool, Bill! 👍 That looks like some beautiful scenery and a relaxing place to visit. Good progress was made on your kits, as well. Hey, I saw that turkey, but at first, I was looking for a bottle of Wild Turkey! 😄

Hey, @billkoppos - tell Kyle that the painting instructions on that Sea Hurricane are 200% bogus. 50 years ago, a Very Famous Modeler in England wrote the Airfix book on doing their then-new 1/24 Hurricane. He modified one to a Sea Hurricane IIc and declared it was painted white overall - all the "researchers" since have copied that. NEGATIVE! The photos of Hurricanes from this squadron in the Squadron In Action book (despite the captions which are Out. To. Lunch. and prove the author didn't have the eye bone connected to the brain bone) clearly show these airplanes were painted in the standard FAA scheme - sky lowers- EDSG and Dark Slate Grey upper, and then the white was overpainted, with a "wrap around" on the wing leading edge. And the national insignia were "blotched" with the white to tone them down.
