Atlantis Midget Racer
My first foray into modeling since my young teens. Fun Build. I'm going to look into other Atlantis models. I lost the grill, so I improvised with some counted cross-stitch canvas. Stayed with the simple theme, rattle can and brush finish. I tried my hand at making it look dirty, thoughts?
Cool. Nice build & finish. Your model brings back memories from the 1940's.
70+ years ago this now old man built a similar model out of balsa wood...painted green with Dope paint.
Thanks for the memories, Douglas.
Thank you Bob. I wanted to stay simple; just rattle cans and brush. I had forgotten about Dope paint. Painted my first rocket with it in 1971!
Looks fantastic, Douglas!
Thank you Spiros!
Welcome back to the hobby Douglas. The dirty looks quite authentic. Looking forward to more of your builds!
Thanks Brian. I'm looking forward to more too. Takes me awhile to complete them because of other duties...
Nice job on that handmade grille! The mud splashes make it look more authentic. Great effort.
It was a bummer to lose a part. But thank you.
Nice job on a cool looking kit.
Thanks Gary. Apparently Atlantis bought old molds and are re-releasing them.
I’m not familiar with these models or cars but this looks really cool. Welcome to iModeler.
Thank you George. I knew nothing of Atlantis either. I came across this at a local hobby store and, being an older, simpler type, I felt it would be a good model to "give it a go".
Pretty nifty little model. Apparently Atlantis is having a 15% off this weekend, coupon code LABOR

Hmmm, I "need" more models...
Really cool build, Douglas @eatontkd
Your scratch builded grill looks perfect.
Welcome to this amazing community.
Thank you John. And thank you for the Stearman directions links. I may tackle that next!
Nice job Douglas, if I'm not mistaken this kit was Monogram's first plastic kit the stock number is like 0001 or something. But they definitely nailed the Curtis midget shape. I built one a couple years back, I'll have to post it sometime. Great job!
Thank you Clint. I'd like to see your Midget, please post.
