First Kit of 2024. DAK Sdkfz 232

January 25, 2024 · in Armor · · 6 · 325

Humbly submitted for your approval. I hoped to start 2024 off right by building one of my favorite Tamiya kits since middle school. Figures finished using Vallejo paints and Tamiya insignia decals. Vehicle assembled smoothly as expected from a Tamiya kit. Decals gave me fits despite my best efforts. Base coat of rattle canned German grey, finished with airbrushed Tamiya 41 with a DAK 42 highlight on upper surfaces. Weathered with Vallejo Iraqi sand pin washes, MiG filters and Tamiya powders. Stowage is a mishmash of resin and plastic bits.

  1. Vary nice, those classic Tamiya kits sure clean up nicely!

  2. Good work on this kit, your finishing and weathering techniques have brought it right up to date, and the figure is a great final touch.

  3. Nice work, John. I built one of those in 1979 or 1980. I rediscovered it two years ago after being stored in a box with a bunch of other elderly kits for about 35 years.
