Ducati 1199 Panigale S Tricolore

May 18, 2015 · in Automotive · · 22 · 3.6K

Hi everyone, this is 's recent 1/12 kit of Ducati's latest attempt to conquer the super bike world. Thanks to everyone who followed the work in progress, the build stages can be seen over in Groups.

The kit itself was for the standard 1199 S, but I managed to find some after market decals for the 'Tricolore' colour scheme, which comes with the Termignoni exhaust system decals. I also used Tamiya's metal front fork set for the build. Everything else was built from the box.

As a bike enthusiast myself, it is general consensus throughout the motorcycle community that the 1199 is an awesome machine. Ducati's official specs for the engine boast 195hp standard with a kerb weight of only 164 kg. In testing Motorcycle Consumer News (MCN) measured 175 horses at the rear wheel, and a 0-60mph time of 2.98 seconds. The bike also hit the quarter mile in 9.91 seconds @145.95mph.

The kit itself is top notch, everything that you would expect from a modern Tamiya kit and more. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is into their bike kits. I might even build a racing version of one at some point!

Thanks for looking.

    • Thanks very much George!
I'm not sure which which one I will have finished next, I have two on the bench at present. I'm building the Sauber Mercedes and Meng's BMPT Terminator.

  6. Greetings :
Very nice eye candy Richard. Nice clean and sharp work, and I am not a motorcycle guy. Just a joy too see, the color combo fit's it very nicely and RED, WHITE, GREEN stripping design does a very good work for the Italian background, very nice concept. The photography accentuates the build just perfectly, good photo work.

  7. What can is say, except. WOW. Nice build.

  9. Great build, Richard!

  10. My first thought was, you have done pics from a real one. Stunning build with a flawless and realistic result !
    Awesome, well done Richard 🙂

    • Cheers mate! I wish I had the real one!
It's too much money to spend on a bike in England though unless you are super rich. I've been at home now for three weeks waiting for my offshore start date, and it has rained everyday!
You would just be spending over twenty grand for an ornament for your garage!

  11. Richard,
Belatedly may I add my comments . I am in awe of the absolutely beautiful work you do with motors. This is stunning
