I live in North Staffordshire in England and have been modelling for more years than I care to remember! I mainly concentrate on 1/48th WW2 and prewar Luftwaffe subjects.
I am treasurer of the IPMS Staffordshire Moorlands Model Club who regularly exhibit at shows across the Midlands and North West of England.
Finally finished! MPM 1/48th He 177. Not an easy build but ultimately worthwhile i think. I hope the forthcoming Special Hobby re-release addresses at least some of the fit issues.
This is the 1/48th scale offering from Special Hobby.
The kit is definitely not for beginners, having many fit issues especially when joining the wing to fuselage, which required copious amounts of filler to correct but nothing that [...]
This is the my completed build of the Italeri 1/48 kit, which was intended to be completed OOB as a little light relief from my ongoing struggle with the MPM He 177. It's a strange kit, quite crude and toy like in places with clumsily [...]
This is my fairly recent build of the Special Hobby kit, which probably contributed greatly to my grey hair!
Many of the injection moulded parts required significant fettling, filling and sanding to persuade them to go together, however [...]
This is an aircraft that has fascinated me since I first saw the 1/72nd Airfix kit, which I think was first released in the early 70's.
The Hobbyboss offering has few issues other than the poor representation of the engine and wrong handed [...]
Converted from the Dragon 1/48th kit using the Alley Cat resin conversion set.
Tamiya base kit with replacement resin/etch cockpits, flaps and rear engine, as captured by American forces.
A nice little kit of the Bestmann trainer. A few fit issues but nothing too taxing. Shame the rear canopy has some stress cracking, but this isn't too noticeable.
A nice little model with few issues. More or less OOB apart from Eduard Brassin replacement wheels, etch seatbelts and Aeromaster decals.
Not the easiest of kits but I found it a very enjoyable build. Mostly OOB but some of the struts were replaced as they were useless! Painted with GS aqueous paints, weathered with pastels and finished with Alclad II flat varnish.
