What a great tribute to a truly GREAT organization! Awesome photos, all!

To ME, the REAL shame of photo #15, Sir Arthur "Bomber" Harris, is the lowlife who painted on the statue!

There's a current subspecies of persons who seem to live to deface, denigrate, and remove the tributes to the past that THEY disagree with. Based on their probably vast knowledge and experience, this is an example of their level of engagement. Here in my native city, four statutes were removed from their locations at 3 A.M. Supposedly, their presence would have started some disturbance. On the plus side, red paint sales are probably up.

Yeah, sorry, the only "heritage" those four statues celebrated was the Southern reversal of Reconstruction and the imposition of Jim Crow, so what they were celebrating is white supremacy, a sin I'm pretty sure you have never engaged in, so why would you be worried about garbage being removed?

I was on temporary detachment at SARTU / Valley, the 'day job' was at Coltishall: This was taken at Wyton for the Canberra Anniversary in 1986, my first show with one of 'our' Jags.

Can't get enough Spitfires Ian - thanks for posting! They seem to draw people with cameras! Was it leisure or work at Duxford?

I stay in touch with this community and I have to say I am more than a little disappointed to be geographically at the opposite end of the earth. I would commend this to anyone, anywhere - if you are in the UK - especially in the south-east - don't hesitate.

Day one - 'fill the skies with Spitfires and Hurricanes'

Day two - 'look forward to the next century of aviation'
