About this Group
This is a Group, dedicated to the fascinating world of Aeroengines!
Usually referred to as aircraft engine, the aeroengine is the power component of an aircraft propulsion system. Most aircraft engines are either piston engines or gas turbines, although a few have been rocket powered and in recent years many small UAVs have used electric motors.
Aeroengine development was the key factor allowing the materialization of the aeroplane: only when a piston engine with favorable power to weight ratio was available, the Wright Brothers were able to write history...
Modeling wise, It is true that not many dedicated aeroengine models are available, the existing ones usually being parts of aircraft models, designed to be exhibited via open panels, aft fuselage removals and the like.
In the latter cases, should the modeler decide not to show the engine, he will most probably use the exhausts or the nozzle. If the main engine is not required to support the above items, the modeler is left with an unassembled engine, which, in many cases, is a model in itself, that can be built, accordingly painted and mounted on some kind of base, even using the kit provided aircraft internal mounting brackets. The final result might at times be eye catching, especially when displayed next to the plane it belongs.
This Group is envisaged as being open to in-progress builds, completed aeroengine models or any other means of relevant threads. In case of entering pics, please make sure they are properly attributed.
This definitely is not your usual "mainstream" Group, so entries are expected to come at a slow rate, if at all! Nevertheless, this not often dealt topic, might find its place in this amazing site.
Happy modeling!

This should be an interesting build, Ian (@firelockg). You don't see many builds of just engines, so this one will be fun to follow. Looking forward to the rest of the build.
