About this Group
This is a Group, dedicated to the fascinating world of Aeroengines!
Usually referred to as aircraft engine, the aeroengine is the power component of an aircraft propulsion system. Most aircraft engines are either piston engines or gas turbines, although a few have been rocket powered and in recent years many small UAVs have used electric motors.
Aeroengine development was the key factor allowing the materialization of the aeroplane: only when a piston engine with favorable power to weight ratio was available, the Wright Brothers were able to write history...
Modeling wise, It is true that not many dedicated aeroengine models are available, the existing ones usually being parts of aircraft models, designed to be exhibited via open panels, aft fuselage removals and the like.
In the latter cases, should the modeler decide not to show the engine, he will most probably use the exhausts or the nozzle. If the main engine is not required to support the above items, the modeler is left with an unassembled engine, which, in many cases, is a model in itself, that can be built, accordingly painted and mounted on some kind of base, even using the kit provided aircraft internal mounting brackets. The final result might at times be eye catching, especially when displayed next to the plane it belongs.
This Group is envisaged as being open to in-progress builds, completed aeroengine models or any other means of relevant threads. In case of entering pics, please make sure they are properly attributed.
This definitely is not your usual "mainstream" Group, so entries are expected to come at a slow rate, if at all! Nevertheless, this not often dealt topic, might find its place in this amazing site.
Happy modeling!

Lovely model,,,,there is a stand mounted Griffon atthe Palm springs museum,,,,next to the "do not touch" sign,,,Of course I touched one of the braided plug wires which proceeded to fall off the plug to my horror and shame,,

So I went to test fit the Griffon to the airframe and I realized I had the carb/injector unit on upside down...Oooops! Oh well...popped 'er off and re-added back correctly. Now it fits! Funny how that works...LOL

Being lucky enough to have the whole family of engines from HPH , I thought it was a shame to let the third member sit in the dark and I took the opportunity to start building it. The kit is at the same high […]

...and done ! Without a lot of unnecessary, that is, without making things that in the end seem a little or not at all, the beast is over. The truth is that from one point onwards, I got tired of the engines and […]

Nice work, Michael. I like the weathering on the block. @faraomike

Amazing skills, my friend @faraomike! Cannot wait to see your progress!

After some sanding and many dry fittings , main parts comes toghether . The trick for having the engine support frame straight is to glue all the main parts (5) at the same time ! Black and grey primer on and then […]

Great add-on, Gary @gwskat

Great rendition of the Rolls Royce name, my friend @gwskat! Nice supporting rod!
-
Wait! Bonus addition to the "completed" build: Added the valve cover Rolls-Royce name and symbol using individual letter decals. For added support at assembly I added a rod which will insert into the firewall.
