Hi, Walt (@luftwaffe-birdman). I always try to replace the tires on 1/48 bombers. The kit tires always seem to be split down the middle, leaving you with a seam that is impossible to clean up without destroying the tread. These replacement tires look great.

Spiros, @fiveten, John, @johnb, and George, @gblair, the wheels are really very nice. and come with masks and photo-etch. I purchased the set I posted on eBay from a vendor I have purchased from before in Ukraine. I ordered in January but even though it showed that it had been mailed and the vendor confirmed that he mailed it. I figured it didn't make and I ordered another set from Hannants...they will arrive tomorrow. Funny hot it all works out. I have to say though that the Armory resin wheels are some of nicest I have ever seen. I will save the second set for my next B-24, which will probably be "Sunshine".

Well I have been making progress, not as fast as I would like but progress none the less. I started working on the tail surfaces and have got the two outer vertical surfaces ready to glue to the inners. I some how find the riveting process both tedious and yet gratifying.

I actually finished the scribing and riveting of the tail surfaces, glued them together and assembled. I have to say while not perfect I am pretty happy with how it all turned out. I think that the riveting adds a lot to the surface and after rolling them in and sanding them down they are definitely present, but delicate and restrained. So with the upper wings, the nose of the fuselage and the tail surfaces done, it was time for first put it all together and see what it looks like.

More and more rivets. I know some may be getting a bit tired of seeing rivets. At this point though it where I am at with the model, and happy to say I have made great progress despite the home projects I am working on too.

I finished the port side fuselage riveting today after a couple long dedicated sessions. While not quite the precision of a CNC Machine I am pretty happy overall with the result and I think with markings, paint, weathering and all that the imperfections won't be too noticeable. I like the overall effect when you view it all together. I really am excited about getting to that point where I can get paint on this. That is a ways off but it is motivating.

After I finish the Starboard fuselage half I will start on the wing bottoms. I saved them for last because I have to put the wheel wells in as well as the exhaust in the nacelles. That will take a little time also.
