    Weathering and some more refinements...

I post shaded the panel lines with a 50/50 black/brown tempera mix, heavilly thinned with water.

I then applied black, dark and light brown dry pastels in a way to resemble the actual "dirt" one spots on operational aircraft.

    Here's the top:

    Amd the bottom:

I applied some black wash at the wheel rims and my scratchbuilt wells, to bring out their nice details. I also "micromarked" the wheels/tyres border with red paint, as applied by the airbase wheel specialists, to easilly check that the tyre has not slipped from its original placement:

I took two cockpit pics, to remember that cockpit, as the canopy will permanently be attached after the final coating:

I attached and painted my scratchbuilt port fin pitot and let the canopy rest on its position, to check the fit (not bad):

A clear piece of acetate to fit onto the gunsight base, canopy attaching and smoothing, representation of the wingtip lights, microsandings and microtouchups, a final clear coat and this beauty might cross the finish line!

    Cheers, great DH100GB!

    Final coat

    Time for the final coat.
Instructions state gloss colors, however, from the scarce pics of operationsl birds, it can be clearly seen that the colors are satin towards matt. We can assume that the aircraft might have been painted with gloss colors that quickly turned satin under the Iraqi sun.
So, final satin coat was applied:

    Some finishing touches to come...
    Cheers DH100GB!

Love the look of the bottom wings although I have no idea what the Iraqi markings mean.
    Yes. Almost there.
    I’ll check back tomorrow.

    Allan, @kalamazoo : Good one!
    Eric, @eb801 : I don't know either!
    Thanks for watching, my friends!
Hopefully tonight she'll cross the finish line, family obligations and resulting physical tiredness permitting!

Looking forward to the next post - it is a beauty in waiting. Hope the QC-team will not run you down to such a degree that you won't be able to work on it (we CAN wait, but do we want to) 🙂

I do believe the Iraqi markings are the numbers of the aircraft. (338 to be precise)

QC team did run me down, my friend @airbum ...or so they thought!
I think I will do some work tonight!
Thanks for the info on the markings!

    So they thought!

Motivated by Admin @airbum, I recouped progress as QCs were sleeping!

I installed a suitably cut transparent piece of my sons (QCs) ice cream trays on top of the gunsight base, to form the gunsight glass:

By the way, here are the ice cream trays...:

I then installed the canopy with two spots of styrene glue, the rest taken care of white glue, suitably faired at the edges area, to doubleact as filler:

Tomorrow a walkaround inspection will take place, in order to fix any minor discrepancies, in order to call this beauty done!

    Cheers, DH100GB!

Spiros (@fiveten), I think it would be a lot cheaper to but sheet styrene 🙂

    • just saying, my friend. Great result pre-walkaround, looking forward to the final reveal!

Yep, a lot cheaper it would indeed be, my friend @airbum!...
QC/1 just finished studying, so a walkaround will be commenced after this post!

Added the wingtip lights with clear paint and touched up the canopy joint area, as well as some minor spots that the final walkaround revealed.

    After that, I called her...

    Finished!

Of course, QC/1 had to evaluate the result; this is the initial evaluation pic:

...and this is the pic after the usual bribing promise (chocolate):

    ...talking about objective judgement...

Thanks Admin, my friend @airbum, for warm welcome and essential following along my build.

Congratulations on the DH100GB conception and running!

Also, thank you all my friends for following along, constructively commenting and keeping company!

    It was a lovely journey!

    Soon to reach the Headlines!

Now, what will my next DH100GB Ven... errrrrt... subject be?

    Spiros, @fiveten
This is a magnificent build, and all of the additional scratch built items you added have come together to make this a very nice looking Vampire. I have never seen another Vampire model built like this that was wearing these markings, or was painted similarly in a desert scheme.

Well done my friend, and I am pleased to see that you have passed the QC inspection.

    Thanks, my friend Louis @lgardner!
Indeed, that (striking, for me) scheme, caught my attention over the years, trying to find an excuse to build her!
Thanks for liking and following along!
