Weathering and some more refinements...

I post shaded the panel lines with a 50/50 black/brown tempera mix, heavilly thinned with water.

I then applied black, dark and light brown dry pastels in a way to resemble the actual "dirt" one spots on operational aircraft.

I applied some black wash at the wheel rims and my scratchbuilt wells, to bring out their nice details. I also "micromarked" the wheels/tyres border with red paint, as applied by the airbase wheel specialists, to easilly check that the tyre has not slipped from its original placement:

I took two cockpit pics, to remember that cockpit, as the canopy will permanently be attached after the final coating:

I attached and painted my scratchbuilt port fin pitot and let the canopy rest on its position, to check the fit (not bad):

A clear piece of acetate to fit onto the gunsight base, canopy attaching and smoothing, representation of the wingtip lights, microsandings and microtouchups, a final clear coat and this beauty might cross the finish line!

Added the wingtip lights with clear paint and touched up the canopy joint area, as well as some minor spots that the final walkaround revealed.

After that, I called her...
