Started with a black primer today. I used AK Black primer 3rd generation. The first experimental rounds were far from good. I tried several thinning rates and various pressures. Finally a workable combination was found and so far the paint seems to settle nicely. In the picture the paint is still wet, let's see how it turns out after a couple of hours.

@gblair, when applying the primer, rain was pouring down. It definitely looks like I did hold it outside.

This is how the AK primer looks after drying. I want to use the Vallejo Metal Color Silver to create the NMF look.

Hi John (@johnb): I originally thought you were using a gloss black for the primer. I think this will provide a good base for the NMF.

Close to a week since the last update. Lots of real life interference.
After applying the black primer it is now finally time to get some color on, I started with the red tail of 341 squadron.
