About this Group
The North American F-86 Sabre is possibly the best known jet fighter in the world. Designed and developed in the late 1940s, it is probably best known as the swept-wing fighter that could stand up to the Mig-15 in the Korean Conflict. Variants of the Sabre would eventually fly in the air forces of over 30 different countries. If you count the number of Sabres of all marks produced, including the FJ Fury and the planes license-built by Canada and Australia, there were over 9800 airframes produced, making it the most-produced western jet fighter in history.
The purpose of this group is to celebrate the F-86 Sabre and the FJ Fury, including all of its variants. This group is open to any variant of the F-86 Sabre and the FJ Fury, in any scale, flown by any country. This will not be a permanent group, and we would like all models to be completed and submitted by 30 September. So, head out to your garage and dig out all of your Sabres and Furies, dust off your guides to the differences between the variants, and join us in building models that celebrate this famous fighter.

That's a wonderful Sabre in the end, Eric @eb801 No clue either what that error might be. Take care and hope you will get well soon.
-
Excellent result, my friend @eb801! Cannot spot the error. Glad the surgery was successful, wishing you a good recovery.
-
Really nice result here, @eb801.
-
Beautiful Sabre, Eric. I don’t see any flaws. Heal up fast!

I made it to the finish line and was able to complete this Sabre and called it "finished". Headline photos will have to wait. I made one glaring error thanks to pain medication. How's that for an excuse? […]

Tom@tcinla: Classic senior fall. Two little girls were dragging each other around on the floor obliviously in our local brew pub right in front of a door as I came walking through and caught my foot. Down I went. […]

Hope I'm not too late to the Sabre party, George @gblair. The decals in the box are much improved compared to previous Hasegawa sheets I've worked with, so I intend to use them as I like the box art markings […]

@gblair - Go over to Clear Prop's website and you can order it for around $60. Even shipping from Ukraine, it's cheaper than Squadron. Here it is for 55 Euros: (link)

Final result looks great, Tom (@tcinla). I have used SuperMetallics before, but have never tried misting them on. I was over at Squadron Mail Order and they have the F-86A on preorder for almost $90. I may need […]
-
@eb801: I made passes till it "looked right." Super Metallics stick to the plastic (even without primer) and do not come up when handled.
-
Eric - take care of that wrist, buddy. How'd it happen?
-
@gblair - I always use decals for Sabre ID stripes and have never had a problem.
-
Sorry to hear for your wrist, my friend @eb801. Hope you have a successful surgery and a good recovery. Great progress on your Sabre!
-
It came out beautifully, Tom @tcinla No signs that you had problems with the fuselage.
-
Excellent entry and really great result, Tom! Built at lighting speed! Well done!
-
Finished. Given the problems I had with the fuselage, I'm surprised it came out so nice. But now I know how to avoid the hassles for the next one. For those interested, Bullseye Decals has done two sheets of […]

Does Metallic2 stick to the plastic after being thinned so much Tom @tcinla? How many mist passes did you give? Does it pull off with drafting tape? Looks really good.
-
@gblair - Mr Color Leveling Thinner. "Mist it on."
