About this Group
The North American F-86 Sabre is possibly the best known jet fighter in the world. Designed and developed in the late 1940s, it is probably best known as the swept-wing fighter that could stand up to the Mig-15 in the Korean Conflict. Variants of the Sabre would eventually fly in the air forces of over 30 different countries. If you count the number of Sabres of all marks produced, including the FJ Fury and the planes license-built by Canada and Australia, there were over 9800 airframes produced, making it the most-produced western jet fighter in history.
The purpose of this group is to celebrate the F-86 Sabre and the FJ Fury, including all of its variants. This group is open to any variant of the F-86 Sabre and the FJ Fury, in any scale, flown by any country. This will not be a permanent group, and we would like all models to be completed and submitted by 30 September. So, head out to your garage and dig out all of your Sabres and Furies, dust off your guides to the differences between the variants, and join us in building models that celebrate this famous fighter.

Congrats with the completion of this wonderful build, George! It was a pleasure to follow your work.
-
Thanks guys! @gblair @johnb

Those little extras do add a lot, George @gblair You have once more created a wonderful Sabre. Looks great on the headlines.
-
Not the easiest way of masking, Carl @clipper But you are definitely on the right track to get a wonderful result.
-
Sorry to hear this, Alfred @alfred In the end when you have the air brakes open, it will be hardly noticable.
-
I know what you mean George (@gblair) about wanting to move on. I have a ship model waiting to start after the Fury. I will also be doing a simpler airplane build because the ship will take a long time. Not sure […]
-
Thanks George (@gblair), I was pleased with how they came out as well, especially given the amount of difficulty I had in making them in the first place. The good things about cutting masks like this is the same […]
-
I always look forward to the decals on a model, Alfred (@alfred), because they really make the model look cool and signal that you are nearing the end of the build. But I also approach the decals with a little […]

Hi Carl (@clipper): There certainly is a lot of stuff that interferes with laying down a smooth mask. Lot of pain getting them down smoothly, but worth it. Still amazed at how well the tail markings came out.
-
Thanks for following along, Carl (@clipper). All in all, this was a fun build. I think I reach a point at the end of a build that I get impatient and want to move on to the next one, which I have already started […]
-
Thanks again Alfred (@alfred), George (@gblair), Spiros (@fiveten), and John (@johnb). I decided that the tail needs a bit of touch up for the upper and lower thin lines, so this was covered over with primer […]
-
This looks fine George (@gblair). No problems at all with the way this bird turned out. We all face these challenges with builds and wish we could be perfect. I certainly suffer from this all the time. Looking […]
-
I am done. I added all the small bits today, which always seems to take longer than all the rest of the build. Not my best model, but I am glad to be done so I can move on to the next F-86 (in camo, this time).
-
Hi Carl (@clipper): Once the decals are printed, I let the ink dry for a day, then I spray them with Tamiya Clear Gloss from a spray can. It protects the inks and is flexible. I try for one solid, but thin, […]
-
Hi guys, bad luck … Unfortunately I made a terrible mistake with the buzz number decal. Its offset is not correct and as such the pre-cut star and bars sign does not fit in its original place on the air brake a […]
-
Thanks, Spiros!
-
@gblair, @alfred, @fiveten, thanks a lot all. Hopefully some more progress today.
-
That's an amazing result, Carl @clipper The tail came out beautifully.
-
Perfect result, my friend @alfred! Net available pics will help you a lot to determine the stance of the air brakes when deployed.
-
Looks excellent so far, my friend @johnb!
