I have to admit I am not good at photographing my progress. My intention is to do so, but I keep plunging ahead with the build and forget to take a picture. Unfortunately, I do not have a place to put a little “studio” to photograph things, so when I do there is some setup involved.
Two new to me products were used. The first s Camouflage Masking Putty from Andy’s Hobby Headquarters. It comes in a 80 g (2.82 oz) tin.. It is nearly identical to Silly Putty. But it is much thinner in consistency. If you are using it to delineate camouflage boundaries, it should be okay. If you are using it to stuff wheel wells, it will drip and run, albeit very slowly. So, it is not set it and forget it. That being said, it is very easy to use, comes away from all those nooks and crannies in a wheel well leaving nothing behind and seals the area from any paint overspray. I like it and will use it again.
The second product is Mr. Color Super Metallic 2 Superfine Silver (SM 201). For this, I need to give a shout-out to Tom Cleaver (@tcinla) who has praised this product in several of his articles describing his builds, and that is how I found out about it. I have never used Mr. Color, and I was not aware of it. It is everything Tom raved about. It is easy to apply and looks as realistic as any product I have used (and there have been many) to get a natural metal finish. I will make sure I keep plenty of this paint in stock. I used Mr. Color Leveling Thinner, which was perfect (as always). I buy Mr. Color Leveling Thinner in the 400 ml bottle.
Paint applied, decals are going on and all that is left are the fiddly bits and I will be done.
