Well folks , back to the bench.
With Xmas and New Year out of the way had a bit of time to do some modelling.
The spine had a horrid mis-alignment or step running the length of if.
    From tail fin to cockpit.

The front end was not too bad, nothing that a bit of micro mesh would not sort out.

The tailfin the same, a little bit of TLC.

Also had time to clean up the pods and arrestor hook.
Now to learn the dark art of re-scribing.
The fuel tank access panels need re doing, half of them were sanded to oblivion.
Also will have to work out which is the easiest way to re do the rivets too.

    So until then, take care.

    All comments welcome.

Well work has stopped for an urgent need of a spray booth.
Since I started this wonderful hobby we have become grandparents for the first time.
So , once we moved and settle in, needed the bench etc to be safe-ish.
So my old HI FI rack was converted.
A couple of extra shelves and some wheels added, gives us a mobile, self contained spray booth/paint store.
Just need to sort out the extractor hose...

Good to see you back work, Simon, neat work on the spray booth, like the wall colour, too!

Cheers George, the colour was Roses choice, its a north facing room, so no direct sunlight.

Any how, back to the bench and other things.

Started work on the nose area.

    The cheek inlets?

Not well defined by Revell so a bit of scribing, cutting and filing should hopefully represent the intakes.

There is going to have to be some blending in with some Green Stuff.

    Next the nose "bump"

Also some blending in there too.

Well will let them set before tackling those little niggles.

As for the Spray booth, the new attachment fitted to the back of the booth.

It has saved about 8 inches of space.

    That is all for now.

    All comments welcome.

Well, things dried quicker than I thought, so the Green Stuff was applied.

    and the other side.

Let this set overnight then clean up from there.

Right, I am back for another bash at this kit.

The "bump" on the nose does not exist according to my references so off it came.

The cheek inlets were cleaned up and so was the mess left over from the nose bump.

The probes on the tail fin were not the best thing since sliced bread, so a quick measure up and cut them off.

This is when the fun started.

The probes were moulded onto the Port side of the fuselage . So when I went to drill the holes to fit the replacements the top one screwed to the side, and nearly through the tail fin. Damn it. I took a deep breadth and decided to cut a notch out of the fin into which gave me a flat surface to drill accurately .

Starting with the lower one as I let the Green Stuff do its thing.

After filing and sanding the top one and cutting a notch out, I found out that when I drilled the hole it veered to the Port side.

So how do I fill this notch and drill a hole?

Simple? I got some stock plastic struct and drilled a hole down the length of it .

Then measured up and cut an angle across it.

And the hole is still there, so I deepened it.

All that is left to do is to shape it to fit in profile and then fix it into position.

    Until then.

    Take care .

Cheers Greg, it not done deliberately mate, just having to think before I act.

Anyhow, said piece was attacked with some files to a rough similar profile then cut and stuck in place.

I also gave a run round the joins with a little bit of TET just for good measure.
I am leaving that over night to set, before blending in to the same profile as the tail fin.
I hope to get this part(the fuselage that is) sorted and primed by next weekend.
I have still got bits to do on the fuselage, the arrestor hook strap(strop) to cut a hole for and fit. Also the tail fin inlet splitter to finish off too.
I have also been looking at the tail fuel dump pipes, I am not sure what to do there.
Also on the list of things to do before spraying is the low-light formation strips which run along the fuselage and on the tail fin.
The kit gives us decals for these but in my eyes they lack the depth, so I have some 10 thou card to hand and will cut some strips off.
Will see how it looks first.

You all take care out there.
