I use the cheat method George, the camera has a Macro mode in auto.

Ah, I'll have to try that on my other camera!

Don't know how I missed this build when you started, but looking really good! Can't wait for the finish line...

It is back, the P 47D, re-surfaces again.
Got round to putting some more decals on her.
    Port upper wing

I finally got the balls to have a go at making a decal.

Not the best of goes but with some dirt etc she will look OK at 6 yards LOL.
Hope to get some more done very soon.

    Well, next update .
    Short but brief,
    Undersides of wings decaled.
The left hand wing still needs to have a light cleared from under the "star and bar"

There were more but black on black, forget it, I tried one and couldn`t see it.
    So onto the belly.

    Not many but a pain.
Also done the front starboard nose area.

I am going leave these to dry overnight and continue with the last few tomorrow.
    All comments welcome.

Very authentic looking work, Simon, and a lot of it ! (mine all look that way after a few years on the shelf...and the usual rough handling) Well done.

More decals than you can point a stick at chaps...
    Tail plane first,

    Same the other side.
Some of them were a tad small?

The "LIFT" on the "Star and Bar"
    A few more to go.

After the fun with dry decals, I had to re-make some parts.
    Part of the "V"

And the whole of the "H V"

Will leave to dry until the morning then tidy up the "home made" decals the best I can.

    All comments welcome.

    Right, some news...
All decals on the main body of the plane.
    So next the gun barrels.
Well I did cut, prime and paint 8 of the little buggers but they vanished.
So cut and clean 8 more .

    Then glue.

    Primed and painted

I will leave her alone until tomorrow before giving her a coat of gloss varnish.

    All comments welcome.

Simon, shaping up nicely. Getting close to the finish.

Cheers Bernie, getting there slowly, but end is in view.
Gave her a coat of gloss varnish on top.

    Underneath

    Chose some oils for weathering.

Some other parts that were glossed too.

And after their washes, which were black with a burnt sienna over that.
And yes I did swear when the door came away.

    All comments welcome.
