@holzhamer, indeed some AM suppliers should have gone over the edge by now!
@fiveten, in a blitzbuild I think you have to hold back – just a bit
@johnb, sorry, not planned to do that in this build (plans may change, but not likely)
Thanks for checking in again gents – and now for some more

    Preparations

Just a few small things done in preparation for more bench-time

Wingsy wants you to assemble the fitting for the tailstrut

Two very small butt-joined pieces of carpetmonsterfeedwannabes – naahhh

I’d rather glue them into the fuselage sides.

And while we are at the tailend, let me once again praise wingsy for their attention to detail.
The fin is correctly angeled to counter the torque from the propeller

Even though it would seem they have forgotten the all-important assembly line in the spine?

next up – haven’t got a clue actually – tune in and check

Erik , it's always a pleasure to see you build your models so carefully , step by step . What a pity that you do not deal with larger scales ...

Your usual excellent attention to details, my friend @airbum!

    Nice step, Erik @airbum
Never saw this kind of construction for the tailwheel, but at least it gives you some additional parts.

@faraomike, I aim to please 🙂 Display space prevents larger scale.
    Thanks @fiveten.
@johnb, this type actually might make it easier to relocate the wheel at an angle. At least it is possible to reverse it as if pushed back.

    Dryfitting, cutting

Having checked Pedros log the rudder gets attention

It is a general observation that there is a gap that is too large between the fin and rudder

Instead of adding I have cut material, making the top-angle hollow. From pictures I find this to be more or less correct, at least in my humble opinion.

Another general observation is the seat being very strange.

I cut the floor to enable a SBS-model resin seat to fit. It has to fit the upper hinges as well as the floor, and this is the position without moving the upper attachments. (The seat elevates in the real plane for shorter pilots, this being near the lowest position.

next up I suppose some glue or paint? Be sure to tune in again!

I still can’t explain exactly why I experienced that size issue with the rudder tip junction. I recall how carefully I sanded and polished the parts when cut off the sprue tree, and reading your own experience it’s then probably a minor shape issue of the plastic dimensions.

That said it’s nice to see how you solved this with a completely different approach than the one I used. Splendid!

This should really make into a nice model, Erik (@airbum). The thickness of the seat is something that seems to plague a lot of kits. Looking forward to the rest of the build.

Thanks guys, I'll get back to you later. Just wanted to thank Eric @eb801 for the link. As the only difference is the lower wing it should make an equally pleasing build to make the E-3. Now we just have to wait for a proper E-3a for all the export planes, especially a correct swiss version. (as an aside, did you know the Yougoslavian E-3a were without wing armament, and some even went into action equipped with only the three fuselagemounted ones, later getting the Oerlikons without cuffs just like the swiss version)

Erik @airbum - I just stumbled upon this one right now…
    https://www.google.pt/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.scalemates.com%2Fkits%2Fwingsy-kits-d5-09-messerschmitt-bf109e-legion-condor--1252136&psig=AOvVaw2Dym50Jet8XhxF3k-oqeJQ&ust=1633090929779000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAwQjhxqFwoTCMiw89bypvMCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAR

Seems Wingsy are doing their first combo edition with the E-1 +E-3 full kits dedicated to the Legion Condor. Their estimated release is late October/ November (Wingsy FB Dixit)

@fiveten, small steps, but miles between them lately it seems
@davem, thanks – hope to make some more progress later on
@holzhamer that is one of the pleasures of other builds of the same – gives inspiration to try something else to solve the same “problem”. Thank you for the link.
    @johnb most kind
@eb801 thank you for the link
@gblair seats and wheels seems to be the most used AM parts lately.

    Babysteps?

While progress on this and all my builds have been almost non-existing for the last 4-6 months, it is finally time to get a wee bit done
Before my long brake, I did manage to get some parts painted, and they should be sufficiently dry to handle by now

I did prepare some PE stuff, and after CAíng them in place I did a dry-fit to check on the general arrangement.
One thing that springs to mind is the word “overenginnering”. While such items as the rudder-bar has details that would make anyone proud, they are not visible, even with the canopy open I think. Other areas are splendidly detailed, and worth the effort – I have mentioned the harness earlier on, and that detail alone is going to make the kit worth the price – in my humble opinion. AND it is clearly visible even with the hood closed, so that is a great detail I shall be looking forward to.

next up – who knows. When – hopefully not ½ a year from now – after all I have to speed up to catch up with Pedro

Some percentage of those details might deserve the "overengineered" attribution, but, boy, do they look ABSOLUTELY wonderful, my friend @airbum!
