Mounting the upper wing surfaces to the lower surface was a fairly easy process.
    The fitting was excellent.
Just a bit of cleanup is required.

Spiros, what a fine job on the paint on them. I always find that the last color is a bit thinly spread at an edge or two after removing the masks. Do enjoy the touch-ups my friend 🙂

John, that office is looking very smart - that is some sharp paintwork. And indeed the trusty old Emil kit fits like a glove. Word of caution - when you assemble the wing/fuselage it is worth adding a piece of card at the rear of the opening in the fuselage - or else putty is almost guaranteed to be needed.

I did have a look on a pair of E-3's I have started a long time ago - just opening intakes and vents and thinning the aft part of the cowling and such. Then I took a look at the huge pile of ongoing projects (including a wingsy Emil I was supposed to finish as a pair-build with Pedro), and decided to sit this one out. I shall follow with interest though!

    Keep those updates flying in!

@airbum, thanks a lot, Erik, and for the warning of the wing to fuselage mounting.

Spiros (@fiveten): Awesome work with the airbrush. These are really looking good. Looking forward to the decals.

John (@johnb): Interior looks great. Wings look like they went together well.

I got a little bit done today before game night at my daughter's, along with some quality time with my granddaughter. Cockpit went together nicely. I deviated from the instructions slightly and glued the side panels to the fuselage rather than build a tub that is inserted later. I thought the tub might be tough to fit correctly without gaps. Photoetch is really fiddly, but everything eventually was glued where it was supposed to be. Instrument panel starts with a plastic back, then two clear pieces with the instruments, then two photoetch pieces for the panel face. Painting the panel face tested my eyes and shaky hands, but I think it will do OK. Interior painted with Mr. Color RLM 02. I still need to attach the instrument panel and the control stick. More tomorrow. Cheers everyone.

    An impressive start, George @gblair
The interior looks great already, even before cleanup.

Ditto with our friend's @johnb comments on your build!

Thanks, John (@johnb) and Spiros (@fiveten). I haven't found a photo of the cockpit of these early 109As, but kit cockpit seems simplified. I think it will be OK once it is closed up. I was reading about these planes, and they said the pilots were surprised when the later 109Bs showed up with cockpits that were completely different than the 109As. I don't know, it looks like a 109 cockpit to me. Off to game night (we play board games) and some quality "PawPaw" time with my granddaughter. Cheers.

Nice start @gblair. I do not recall the adress, but there are some pictures of the "russian" plane online. I will have to check later - as far as I recall, the kit is pretty close though.

No matter how tempting applying decals might be, the necessary (typically for Yours Truly) touch up (multi) session must commence. Some painting of various areas, like cockpits, wheel wells and so on has also taken place...

    Thanks for stopping by!

Fully agree on wanting to start applying decals at this stage, Spiros @fiveten
Just a few steps away. Good progres on the small parts.

Looks great, Spiros (@fiveten). I would be getting the MicroSol/Set out and jumping into the decals. Why touch up when you can hide it with some creative weathering. Just kidding. :o)

Thanks, Erik (@airbum). I plan to do a box build without any extras, but the cockpit seemed a little sparse. It's possible the early 109 cockpits really were that sparse.
