    @johnb - Looking great John! This really is a great kit. I would also suggest you save the mounting of the wings until you've completed the painting and decaling... if you weren't already planning on that.

    @brithebuilder, thanks for bringing that up. It definitely is planned like that but I need to temper my enthusiasm to not accidently glue those wings on.

    John @johnb I believe that fabric where the wing guns are is actually tape to cover the barrels and keep the dirt, sand and coral particles etc etc from getting in there and mucking things up. Red tape is also common.

    Is it too late to consider instrument decals on your otherwise fine looking cockpit? I hate to use this pun, but that would really dial it in. Open or closed canopy?

    @eb801, thanks for clarifying, Eric. I was not really impressed by the IP decal, that's why I did not use it. Still might be possible though. But with the wings folded, it will be difficult to have a good view on the IP. I'm rending towards an open canopy.
    @fiveten, thanks you, Spiros.

    Yes that kit IP decal is not impressive at all @johnb. I totally get your point about with wings up, who is going to notice the cockpit dials other than you? But if you change your mind, Airscale or Mike Grant instrument decals do the job as long you apply them before you attach those wings in their folded position.
    Here's how they look on the one I'm working on:

    Prepared the landing gear.

    Added brake lines to the struts using soldering wire.

    Finished work on the gun sight.

    Very Nice ! I like it... a LOT. The brake lines are going to give it more realism and look real good.

    Any thoughts about the area for the exhausts, to me this area created by Tamiya looks much bigger than what it is supposed to be. On pictures of the real aircraft there seems to be less open area around the exhaust pipes. Or am I wrong.

    Great job on the landing gear, my friend @johnb!
    I had also found the exhaust area uninspiring. What I did was to remove the kit exhaust tubes and attach cotton bud shank pieces, obliquely cut, so they "fill" the area, kind like the looks at the real thing...

    @fiveten, thanks for the tip, Spiros. The exhausts on your build look much better. The shank of our cotton buds are made of paper, not that useful. Need to check the house for some other tubes.

    Brake lines look perfectly rendered John @johnb. How did you get two “pointers” coming out of that text box annotation on your photo?
