    @eb801, thank you, Eric. A lot of valuable and interesting information by Louis @lgardner indeed, I'm very pleased with that. It makes this kit even more enjoyable.

    Thank you for the kind words. I’m glad I could help you out with the details of the various colors that were used on the Corsairs.

    There’s also another error that Tamiya made with the color used in the wing fold areas.

    The outer / inner wing interiors portions that were visible when the wings are folded, were painted using the Blue Gray or Intermediate Blue on the planes that were camouflaged. The outers were painted with the early War US Navy Blue Gray color on the “birdcage” version, and then this carried over into the early raised cabin dash -1A, until they switched over to the newer Intermediate Blue.

    The inner wings were painted in the early War US Navy Light Gray for the "Birdcage" and it too likely carried over a little into the very early raised cabin "dash -1A" versions. Then it switched over to Non Specular White here as they introduced the standard Tri-color camouflage schemes.

    They were painted in Glossy Sea Blue in the planes that were painted in overall GSB colors.

    This is a great photo of the "unrestored" KD431 Corsair. The wing fold areas were painted in overall Gloss Sea Blue here.

    This information is shown in these excellent books written by Dana Bell, and David Morris. I highly recommend both of them to anyone interested in the Corsair.

    Looks like you’re making some really good progress and it’s looking great too. Keep it going my friend.

    Engine off to a good start, John @johnb. Your cockpit is the inspiration for my Corsair WIP. I agree, it’s too darned bad most of it will not be seen but an open cockpit is better than total darkness.
    Are you going to do the wings in the folded position?

    @eb801, thanks a lot, Eric. The idea is to build it with folded wings, will be my first ever attempt but with the provided details by Tamiya I cannot resist to give it a try.
    @fiveten, thank you, Spiros

    Engine looks nice, John.
    The Corsair does look sharp with its wings folded.

    Your engine work is very nice. The details really pop, and I especially like how the cooling fins look.

    By folding the wings on your Corsair it will have several benefits. First it won't take up as much storage space, and secondly, it will get rid of any possible gaps where the outer wing connects to the center wing. Sometimes it's very hard to assemble the wings and not have a gap show up there.

    I have several of them in my display case that have a gap in the wings. Personally, I like how the Corsair looks, with or without the wings folded.

    It's going to look great, and I look forward to your next update.

    @lgardner, thanks a lot, Louis.
    I did a Corsair a couple of years back with unfolded wings and it was indeed a challenge to get rid of the gap.
    And yes, a Corsair looks always great.

    Repositioning the elevators, I like it! That's going to add a nice touch of realism.
