Thanks Spiros @fiveten and Andrew @pb_legend, it looks like red is the way to go.

First a quick undercoat of pink.

Followed by a top coat of Italian red.

    Thanks again, happy modelling.

Nice work @chinesegeorge, it's looking amazing man, oooh hope the Africa Twin comes from Father Christmas, I think I must also ask for one. Awesome bike.

Hi George, the red spring looks great! If the reference photo shows red, then red it should be. It is going to be a stunning model, well done.

Good morning ladies and gents, thanks everyone for your help with the spring.

Some more progress with the Pepsi, now the silver paint has arrived I’ve been able to assemble the frames.

Not quite as easy as it sounds, Fujimi use metal rods to align everything rather than Tamiya’s screws, I think they look better, but it’s a little tricky to get it all aligned and put together. Until it’s all together the rods have a tendency to drop out and fall on the floor.

Anyway, after a few attempts I managed to get it all together.

You can hardly see that spring now.

The radiator is going on next. Thanks for looking and happy modelling.

Good morning, my friend @chinesegeorge! Great progress and excellent looks. Indeed, the metal rods are more tricky to use, but look better!

Thanks everyone for looking and commenting. Cricket @bikequeen, that key chain came from IKEA, it’s also a stand for your phone.

The front forks, wheel, and brakes are next.

As with the back wheel optional etched brake discs are included in the kit, but I cheated a little. They would have you cut out the centre of the plastic brake part and fix it to two layers of etched disc, which I did do on the rear brake. But I figured it would be easier just to glue one layer of etch to the outside of the plastic brakes, they would still be thin enough to fit inside the calipers. There are no ventilation holes on these front discs, so you’re not going to notice the missing etch on the insides.

Anyway it all goes together with another of those metal rods and she’s up on two wheels with some transfers added.

The headstock and some details to be added next. Thanks again for looking and happy modelling.

Coming together nicely, my friend @chinesegeorge! Great approach to the "etched" brakes!

    Very nice progress, George @chinesegeorge
Does the kit also have a stand which can be placed at the rear of the bike.
IKEA is always very practicle in giving a product more functionality.

Thanks @fiveten and @johnb. Yes, there’s a stand that fits onto the rear axle, but I haven’t assembled it yet. But I have fitted the steering damper and headstock.

The exhaust is next, and unfortunately I can see a problem on the horizon……..

Thanks again for looking and commenting, and happy modelling.

You are really moving right along, George (@chinesegeorge). I am struck by how different the frame, brakes, tires, and so on look on your model compared to mine. The function is the same, but the technology has moved forward lightyears. Looking forward to your exhausts. Getting them lined up can be fun.. :o)
