Excellent start on Kevin's bike, George @chinesegeorge
My apologies for not responding early, was spending a long weekend in Barcelone with my family so not much time for iModeler unfortunately.
I'm voting for the 'blue' exhaust color as well. Great work on the wheels also.

Thanks, John @johnb, no need to apologise, I hope you had a good weekend away. I seem to remember that there were a couple of interesting model shops in Barcelona last time I was there, but that was a few years ago.

@chinesegeorge, definitely had a good weekend there and accidently ran into a very nice hobby shop indeed, but only aircraft. Lots of interesting material, not too much on modelling but a lot of books and reference material. We went inside the store but after already a couple of mintues I noticed that my wife and daughter preferred to see other parts of Barcelona 🙂

Good afternoon, @johnb, @rory, @fiveten, @gblair, @bikequeen, @anthonyricco, it’s freezing outside, time to do some modelling, but I’m in a similar situation to Anthony, I’m waiting for some paint for the rear swing arm and main frames, the paint is stuck somewhere in a delivery depot that’s in lockdown.

So I’ll have a go at something else- the rear cowling.

I joined the two halves together and after a bit of sanding, I smoothed off the moulded rivets, three on each side, and drilled holes for the replacements.

I gave it a couple of coats of white, and then applied the transfers, a little touching up needed, but not too bad.

It’s only three weeks until Christmas, I’ve asked Santa for one of these:

Not sure if I’ll be lucky though.

That’s it for now, thanks for looking and happy modelling.

Hi Cricket @bikequeen, I use my favourite little finger to smooth out those wrinkles. Your African Twin looks awesome as you Americans say. I was wondering about which colour scheme to have, that red looks pretty cool, but maybe I’ll go for the blue. Did you get the flexible chain detail-up kit as well?

That is some really complex decaling, George (@chinesegeorge). Trying to match those different colors with paint should be a fun exercise. I have never had a lot of luck matching colors on decals with paint, but it sounds like you have done this before.

Good morning everyone, @fiveten, @johnb, @bikequeen, @gblair, @anthonyricco, @ij001. I have a question about the rear shock absorber. All the components are to be painted silver, but there is no colour call out for the spring. Fujimi has supplied a metal coil spring which is black. Rory @rory explained the different colours used for these springs recently, but I’m not sure if this spring should be yellow. What do you think?

Once the model is completed the spring is barely visible anyway.

Thanks for your help and happy modelling.

I would be glad to help, George (@chinesegeorge), but you know I have no idea at all. I have been painting all of mine Vallejo Metallic Colors Steel, which I think is safe for WW2.

@chinesegeorge, found a video on YT of one of Kevin's XR-74s with the fairings removed. It appears the spring on that bike was red, only assuming original. Will send you message with a screen shot.

I go with our friend @pb_legend , my friend @chinesegeorge. Found a pic of the naked '88 RGV at the Supebikeplanet website, depicting a red spring...
