I got the kit Friday and Been pouring over the directions, also got the Detail-Up forks and engine parts and the rivet set. Still waiting on the chain. I have seen this kit on evil bay for a couple years now and always passed it by. I really like it, didnt realize it was a 6 cylinder. So I’m pumped to build it. Also like the clew ear cowlings:)

Also even though the Detail-up wheels aren’t available anywhere the kit wheels are pretty neat, almost like the wheels that came with the Africa TWin

This looks like a really cool kit, Cricket (@bikequeen). All of the extras will certainly raise the level of this build. I had never been on Ebay until a couple of years ago, and now I use it to find out-of-production kits and details.

@gblair thanks George! Sadly ebay is my only option as I live in the middle of nowhere. There is a Hobby lobby about 45 minutes away and thats it for hobby shops and they dont care about molding at all….not here. The more I look at the directions and this kit the more I like it

There’s a lot more to this kit than meets the eye, Cricket @bikequeen, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

Ok so after some dicey (several) weather days and tons O rain i decide to once again pour over the directions. The detail-up chain is stuck somewhere in Poland :/

I started the engine….I just couldn’t resist.! Is this really a 250cc 6 cylinder bike?

All along I have seen this kit for sale but figured it was one of Tamiya’s old reissued kit. How wrong I was the detail is unreal and it will be a joy to build and yes I will need to …..GULP…. Use an airbrush 🙂

Here a couple of teaser pics

Wow, Cricket (@bikequeen). You actually assemble the cooling fins. This is going to be fun.

@gblair Yep it was pretty neat, I will actually use an airbrush too! LOL. Got to mix colors for a lot of engine parts. But I saw a video somewhere on this site about thinning paint and it gave me a lot of info and a bit of confidence to try it….will probably be today. I have to mow if the ground isn’t still soaked

Airbrushes are really cool, Cricket (@bikequeen). Using an airbrush changes everything. Good luck with the lawn. Send some rain to central Texas. We haven't had any rain in a couple of months.

The engine detail on this kit is really cool, @bikequeen, yes, a 250cc 6 cylinder motor, it sounds great. I just checked, the wheel detail set doesn’t seem to be currently available here in China either. The standard kit’s wheels are OK, just a bit fiddley.

Thanks it really is a nice kit, and yes Airbrushing is the way to go but for the same reason i cant use the printer, airbrushing is a pain here, but I won’t whine about it :). George W, hose wheels aren’t available anywhere, but it;s cool the kit ones are pretty nice and i can do fun things with them 🙂

I have the engine parts assembled. I try to put as many parts together that are the same color and shoot them all at once. The part on the left will be gloss aluminum, the parts on the right will be a mix of titanium gold and red brown the latter being airbrushed. This thing is tiny for a 1/12. Very humid here so the painting will have to wait for later when the heat index is 147 :). Also included is the assemble sheet for the engine ….after paint and mowing the carbs will be next 🙂

PS, i will use gravity feed airbrush…..double GULP 🙂

Looking superb, my friend @bikequeen! Yes putting as many parts together as long as they are the same color is also my way to go when airbrushing.

@bikequeen, can’t remember when I made mine, but I’m pretty sure I used Tamiya aerosol cans.
