After a holiday break, it was time to get back to the bench again. The plastic parts for the covers were all white already so I could make use of that for the white areas and leave them untouched, I still decided to prime them at first. I think this will give a more uniform result in the end with the various colors required for this scheme.

Good idea to prime everything in order to get an uniform finish, @johnb.
