Thanks George, John, Spiros, Morne and Ian for your kind words. Progress has been slow. I got all set up yesterday (Sunday) to airbrush a lot of the smaller components and then sat in the darkness with a 13 hour electrical breakdown, so got no work done. Thanks for the whatsapp chat Morne. Your aircraft knowledge and research is inspirational to say the least...now we need to get you building bikes...LOL. Thanks for stopping by everyone and have a productive week.

Pity the breakdown prevented you from airbrushing, my friend @rory.

Sorry to hear that @rory, maybe you can try again next weekend.

Always a pity when you look forward to something and are being hampered by, in this case electricity, setback, Rory @rory

Thanks John, Spiros, George and Cricket for looking and your kind comments. Fortunately I had electricity and some inspiration last evening, so I did one of my favourite parts of a bike build being the heat staining of the exhausts. At least I had some fun. Thanks for stopping by to take a look and happy modeling.

That looks really good, @rory, much better than my feeble attempts. Glad to hear they switched on the power for you.

Indeed, the heat staining looks amazing, my friend @rory! What kind of paints are they?

Thanks George, yes, power back early hours of Monday morning. We had nothing for 13 odd hours. Thanks George and Spiros for your kind comments. Spiros, I used Alclad aluminium as the base, then light burned iron over quite a lot of the exhaust, but leaving some parts with the brighter aluminium shine, and then Mr. Hobby clear blue (very diluted) and lastly Mr. Hobby clear red, also very diluted. The blue and the red overlap to create the purple colour.

    Amazing looking exhausts, Rory @rory
Very realistic heating effect, thanks for sharing the way you achieved that.

The engine is looking great, Rory (@rory). The heat staining on the pipes is really nice. I may try the same technique on the motorcycle I am building, but I think there is a lot of skill also involved in getting your results that might not be present on my end. Well done!
