She starts to look smoother already, Spiros @fiveten
Same experiences for me on this kit. Only consisting of a few parts, but requiring quite some attention.

    Nice progress, Spiros @fiveten
How was the fitting on these parts, I remember those required quite some attention.

Thanks my friend @johnb! Indeed, fit was average, requiring attention.

Somehow managed to secure the front ill-fitting transparency in position...

Upon glue curing some filling and sanding will commence.

Spiros @fiveten - Amazing you were able to wrestle that Ill fitting canopy into submission. Looks pretty darned good to me.

I have only built one Heller model, an WWII GMC military fire truck and it wasn’t easy kit at all so I have been leery of tackling anything Heller. What’s your generalized opinion about Heller? What about their newer molds?

The canopy really looks great after you "massaged" it into position, Spiros (@fiveten). The canopy is probably the only thing on the kit that can't be scratchbuilt if something goes horribly wrong. Great save.

Good work on the filling and sanding, Spiros @fiveten, and the canopy looks as though it was designed to fit in the first place.

Thanks my friends @eb801 and @gblair! Heller produced really fine models in the past, even tackling more esoteric subjects no mainstream company would produce back then.

Generally, Heller got the shapes correct, but was sparse in the details provided at key areas (cockpit, landing gears etc). Whereas Heller kits are buildable, for todays standards are to be regarded as limited run, as fit usually needs attention.

Decals are sometimes not well registered.

Coarse sanding and first filing session on the front transparency, also another filling and sanding round to the rest of the plane...

    Thanks for stopping by!
