Great save. 1st the nose gear, then the black paint save in front of the cockpit windows. Followed up with a cheat line save. It's beginning to sound like a football match with color commentary. "The Great Save." The kit is looking sharp John.

This is really starting to look like a finished build, John (@johnb). I found my EC-121 (L1049) in my storage room, so I can move it farther up the build queue.

@stephen-w-towle, thank you, Stephen. This kit seems to have a surprise for me during each step.
@gblair, thanks a lot, George. Looking forward to that Connie.

The decals for the outlines of the doors are made out of one solid film, there is no opening in the center. To be able to remove the masks at a later stage without damaging the decal, I removed the inner part of the decal.

The DC6 is now fully decalled (is that a correct sentence), also on starboard side the long decal was a bit too short. Another surprise was that the outline of the front cargo bay is not following the door frame correctly.

Good move to remove the inner part of the decal, my friend @johnb! Despite not being totally accurate, the cargo door decal looks passable from here.
Overall, the DC-6 looks wonderful and I am looking forward to see it progressing!

@fiveten, thanks a lot, Spiros. From a distance she looks indeed quite nice. Now it's on the repairing the landing gear. For sure I'm going to insert some metal pins to strengthen it a bit.

I think the metal pins will provide the required strength, my friend @johnb.
    Looking forward to them!

She’s looking amazing, @johnb, seems like good planning removing the centres of those transfers.

That is well planned ahead John. I am thinking if the decals might be made for a Mach-2 kit that may be wrong in the dimensions, or another possibility is that the decals are the correct outline for the door to correct the kit being wrong? Does the decal textsheet tell us anything?

Anyway - it looks great alreadt - will be quite a treat when finished!

@fiveten, it will definitely help to carry the weight of this model.

    @chinesegeorge, thanks, George.

@eb801, thank you, Erik. It must be something like that. The decals are from LimaNovember Decals, mentioning DC-6B LN72-559. The decal sheet says "This decal is mainly made for the Heller 1/72 DC-06B kit". So that looks to be correct, but in reality it is not.

As mentioned in earlier stages, I was able to knock off all wheels during the build. The nose wheel even twice. To be sure that, once most of the build was done, they would be strong enough after remounting, I drilled a 0.5mm hole in the remaining strut which was still present between the wheels and the landing gear strut. A piece of metal wire was inserted and both parts glued with AC.

Wheels are mounted again and I will let it dry now for at least 24 hours. Hopefully this will be strong enough to carry the weight.

What a spectacular model this has turned out to be, John (@johnb). The paint scheme is very striking. Here's hoping the landing gear cooperates.

@johnb - I’m impressed with your drilling skills. Looks rock solid now. You deserve a drum roll when you flip it over tomorrow! Get the camera ready.
