    Looking good Capt.R. Isn’t this kit a re-pop of the MiniCraft Mariner the company had released just before they called it a day? Academy picked up the molds and supplied upgraded decals, I believe. @lis

    @eb801

    Yes of course!

    https://www.scalemates.com/kits/minicraft-model-kits-11684-pbm-5-mariner--310202

    I tryed to bought original Minicraft kit because this was pure PBM-5 version with extra beaching gear and bombs but parcel from USA to Poland was ridiculous expensive (over 50$). So I purchase in my local hobby shop Academy version but without beaching gear and bombs. As I wrote from frames You have blank wheels bay covers for PBM-5 version, but without beaching gears I need to make water diorama.

    PS. Airframe is complete

    You are moving fast, Bernard (@lis). This is still a large kit, even in 1/72. Looking forward to seeing which paint scheme you choose.

    Thank You @gblair

    I’m thinking about this third painting or sth similar from Pima Air and Space museum. On this sheet of decals there is also very nice Black PBM-5 - Mabye in future.

    Hi Bernard (@lis): How about the all-blue Dutch Mariner? That one looks really cool.

    @gblair it is very good idea. I found very good article (need to be translated in google translate )

    https://ipms.nl/artikelen/nedmil-luchtvaart/vliegtuigen-m/vliegtuigen-m-martin-140

    If I interpret the data correctly, the Dutch mariners were half of the total number of version 5A produced, received in 1950 from the USA. therefore it is likely that the PBM-5As in NEIAF service were among the last in active service in the world.

    PS. Engines was next stage. At this time parts directly from box. All fits good. Engines was divided into four parts each. I painted them in steel, and corpse in Engine Gray.

    Next stage. Resin props. In my opinion props from the box are quite strange.

    @kalamazoo Great Mariner! In Academy kit there is blanked nose part for transport version. I Read about Mach 2 kit and they wrote that it has a lot of flash.

    Really nice work going on here.
    Brings back memories of building the Revell Mariner when I was a kid- glue marks and finger prints. Was disposed of with a fire cracker on the 4th.
    I’m sure this will not see that demise!

    Very cool! The propeller hubs were comically undersized as they come in the kit, and the gaps between the cowling flaps are less-than-authentic looking. To my eye, the shapes on the rest of the model look pretty good.
