Wow, Louis @lgardner, you ARE progressing! I love your cockpits, as well as the rest of the parts!

The Hasegawa kits look to be good kits! My Nichiomo kit turns jealous when looking at them!

Regarding my interior color, I believe I have to go towards a darker and a tad more olive-ish shade...

My actual painted parts are darker than they look in the photo, so maybe adding a very light olive coating/wash could help?

Thanks for liking my progress and for constructive commenting, my friend!

Grand tour of the Iron Works Louis. Great progress and nice touch to have all the parts cleaned and ready in one go.

Here's how the bamboo looks, after a dark drab wash:

What do you think, my friends?

    Spiros, @fiveten
Your "bamboo color" looks much better now from here ! I would go with using that final color of yours on any of your future Ki-45 builds, most (if not all) of the Ki-61's, and "early" Ki-100's. If you plan on building any of the planes I just mentioned this will be perfect. This final shade you came up with should be your "go to" Kawasaki interior color. It looks to be very close (if not perfect) to my eyes, and it matches the pictures I posted earlier of the actual plane stored at the NASM. These pictures I'm referring to were part of the ZM 1/32 scale online review.

Look at the surface details on your Nichimo kit ! The engines look extremely realistic and exceptionally nice with those copper colored oil coolers. Well done !

My twin Toryu's are turning jealous over the engines ! 😉

They look better on your Nichimo kit than they do on my Hasegawa models straight from the box. I do think they will be hidden enough inside the cowlings though, so sadly most of this beautiful work we are doing will not be seen in the end. But we will know it's there, and we have pictures to prove it !

Excellent progress... It seems that QC1 and QC2 are keeping you right on track. 🙂

Thank you my friends for the kind words... @fiveten

    and
    @airbum

I will start a build for the De Havilland group as a thank you for all of your continued support for my other builds. I hope that a 1/48 scale Tamiya PRU Mosquito will fit in with your group. It's such a beautiful machine, and I have been on a twin engine building kick lately. 🙂

Thanks Louis @lgardner! It seems my bamboo-ish converged towards bamboo! So we are clear to go!

Those Nichimo engines are nice indeed!

A PRU Mosquito is always a wonderful choice, I cannot wait to see it materialized by you!

By the way, I really feel the need to express my sincere thanks to you, my friend Louis, for your never ending interest and support to all fellow modelers here in iModeler, yours truly definitely included!

Spiros is right! You’re an awesome person, and always supportive, Louis. I’m glad I’ve known you here.

Also, Spiros, that noodle camo looks veeeeeery nice! Keep on trucking with that Toryu.

Thanks Jordyn @1corsair64! Glad you like my camo!
    Decal time is slowly approaching...

    Decalling time!

Started to apply the decals, using the Hasegawa instructions as a guide, since Nichimo provided the decals for the Shinten Seukutai bird, but no instructions for placement. So, here it is!

I was expecting tranluscency through the white and yellow (and the red) and I was not disappointed, since, sadly, you can see the camo underneath, especially under strong light...

Also, the yellow ID bands were stiff and started to tear apart upon applying, so #2 drawback.

this was the time that I understood (and appreciated) the fact that many modelers paint all those markings.

Anyways, I will leave everything "as is", supposing that the applied markings on the field were translucent anyway (!) and try to figure out a solution for the yellow IDs (painting is the most likely one).

Mr Mark Softer is taking care of them at the moment...

    More to come!

    Decalling finished!

I just hate to paint yellow IDs and invasion stripes, as much as I love seeing them painted...(go figure...)
So, I used yellow leftover decal stripes from my decal dungeon, trimmed to fit.

I also attached some nice stencilling, nicely provided by Nichimo and finally the red stripe under the nose, that was wrongly printed "straight", so I had to cut it in pieces to conform.
    More to come!

    Thanks, my friend @mvtb!
A bit of progress tonight: I painted the exhausts that are attached to the cowlings Testors Burned Metal, and installed them cowlings! The port one did not want to sit properly, so microtrimmings took place.
