    Spiros, @fiveten
In these last few pictures, what captures my eye the most is the detailed engines, and the camouflage paint work. It looks exceptionally nice. I have been working on the Hasegawa Ki-45 models, but I have to do something different for taking pictures and posting them, as the battery in my cell phone is no longer holding a charge... I'll borrow my wife's cell phone... She won't mind I'm sure and the camera on hers is much better than mine. It's too troublesome to take pictures with our digital camera, but that's an option too. It's an older one, but it still works good.

I'm also ready to start our mutual Revell 1/32 scale He-219 "Uhu's". Please let me know what works best for you.

    Hi Louis @lgardner!

Thanks for the comments on my (our mini GB) Toryu! I did a litte progress this weekend, mainly touching-up the intricate landing gear, which sports both "aluminum" and "black" parts. I also made some progress on my friend's Major General T-2 surprise present and on my DH100 GB Otter. I think this week the Toryu will be finished and I am eagerly waiting for your Toryus' progress pics to appear here!

I am ready to start ou mutual UHUs too. We can even start today!

    Pull the trigger, my friend!

Some more touchups done (and drying...). I also finished the cockpit.
Ready for a black wash and weathering:

    And here's a cockpit closeup:

Wait a minute - is that a finish line I see Spiros (@fiveten)?

    Very nice my friend.

Erik, my friend @airbum, this is definitely one of your those kits falling in the famous "90% done, 90% still to do" category.
    Finishing line is visible though...
I still have to finalize my decision on depicting the back canopy canvas cover (luckilly I found a pic with a heavy canvas cover, instead of the commonly referred custom made metal cover; but, more on this, later on!

    Blackwash

This was a well used Toryu, during those last desperate days, so a generous blackwash was applied.

The nice thing about well executed engraved rivets is how nice they show after a black wash. Such is the case here. Kudos to Nichimo!
After wash drying, it will be chipping and dirtying time!
    Cheers, great EoJ GB!

Oh my, you built such a nice plane and then you wear the tyres and spill black all over it - and now you talk of chipping too! 🙂
No - really, coming along great my friend. I am sooo looking forward to the cleaning up of the blackwash and the chipping - keep it coming Spiros (@fiveten)! Gonna be great.

Yep, my heart broke when I stated dirtying her...but what can you do?
Although Japanese were meticulous in cleaning and maintaining, priorities were different during those desperate conditions last days of the war...

Final weathering/chipping and some adding "final" bits ...

Dark colored pastels were used in places that got dirty or stained, like engine exhausts and tires area.

Then, some light chipping was applied at wings, props and cowlings leading edges and "walkways".

I added the MLG doors. Since their attaching angle was not clear, I consulted some online pics.

I installed the props and the port wing pitot (which was painted IJN gray with "gun metal" tip).

Some finishing retouches to be done and off to the final clear coating!

    Cheers, great EoJ GB!

My painting glitches have been perfectly and very carefully covered, too! 🙂

According to Hasegawa instructions, those Shinten Seiku Tai machines had their front of the spinners painted white. So out came my Springer Pinsel 10/0 brush and carefully applied Humbrol 130 Satin White:

A tad weathering there and at the pitot, some minor (missed) touchups and she's ready for her final clear coat...

Gah, Spiros, that Toryu is just spectacular. I can’t wait to see it in headlines now that I’ve followed the build and there is a finish line in sight.
