    Hi from Finland!
IT Lahtinen registering to iModeler & WaterWings -group.
I’m a returning (several decades break) model man. Have build a couple of kits already - learning something new in every modeling session.

I found these three water planes from my stash.

    • Spitfire Vb Floatplane Prototype 1/72 (PM Model)
    • Junkers F.13 Sea/Landplane 1/72 (Revell)
    • Kawanishi H6K5 Type 97 Flying Boat 1/72 (Hasegawa)
(+ in pict Mr. Natural helping me to decide which to choose)

H6K5 might be too much for me at the moment, but Spit & Junkers might be ok.

Spitfire looks … strange/bizarre with floats - so it is interesting to me. I also like yellow (underside of the plane).

Junkers F.13 is the first all-metal transport airplane. When local Aero Oy (which later became known as Finnair) opened its first route 20.3.1924 from Helsinki to Tallinn, the plane was Junkers F.13. Interesting history from my point of view.

We will meditate a bit with Mr. Natural about the subject & from where to (or should we) start.
Would one or two of these be ok to participate?

    wbrgds

Got some consultancy from Mr. N. He is right, like many times earlier. Spit might be the best to start. Not too many parts, I hope. And it’s half yellow.

Two reference photos from prototype Spit n:o 3760. Pls check the engine / tail variations ?!?…

    Pict 2:

Which one to choose for this model (after looking the boxshot)?
No need to ask Mr. N. - no:1 is the way to go.

Hopefully I have not started too early while the rules says building starts 1. Sept. I have not touch the sprues yet.

    wbrgds & happy Sunday!

Welcome! Love the Spit - an unusual subject and will be a great addition to the build. And welcome back to the hobby - I look forward to all your future builds.

Thank you for support Mr. David. 🙂

Got a push to this project from yesterday's local Model Show .
    So I opened the box...

    Whats’s in the box. Notes:

    • very clear painting instructions with color codes.
    • three spinners, three propellers, extra wheels
    • raised panel lines, no rivets
    • on the box scale marked 1/96 !
    • decals a bit off registration
    • nothing in cockpit ?!?

      Wings & fuselage:

    • clean stuff, simple construction e.g. two sided wings (nice)

      This and that:
Extra spinner & propeller is for non float Spit

    • OK exhaust for this scale/my standard

      Floating device (2x):

    • all double: 4-blade prop, OK spinner, rudder
    • recessed panel lines

      Instructions:

    • Clear & easy
    • some cuts e.g rudder = advanced modeler = not easy for me
    • nothing in the cockpit !?! Paint it black or DIY work or PE/resin ?

      Decals

    • W3760 & P(prototype) OK
    • other bad 🙁

      Canopy:

    • quite thick & non see thru (good if you don’t have anything in cockpit)

Finally found a reference which match my Spit profile - only minimal wing tip sanding and there we are. Project progressing nicely.

First quick test fit. It looks ... bizarre.
