    Good progress, John @j-healy
Hopefully the landing gear will be able to carry all the added weight.

This Gannet will not be a tail sitter. Sealed up the nose. That’s one big prop shaft. We’ll see if it survives still rotating by the time I’m done.

A big shaft indeed, John @j-healy
    Seems quite robust to me.

I have read a couple of articles about building this kit, John (@j-healy), and they both mention the huge amount of weight required to keep it on all three wheels. Both builders were also worried about the struts collapsing, but neither had any problems.

Looks excellent, my friend @j-healy and yes, that's one big prop shaft!

Paint time! Xtracolor Sky sprayed today. The single piece closed nose gear door piece makes an excellent mask. Once I get the EDSG on the top sides, it’ll finish fast. Hoping to spray the EDSG on Monday.

What a year this is turning into - we get the sub-hunting Gannet from Airfix in 1/48, and Sword just announced they are releasing the AEW Gannet, also in 1/48, in April!

@j-healy - I have found with this FAA scheme that it's easier to paint the EDSG first, mask it off, and then do the Sky. You don't have to mask off everything to avoid getting EDSG on the Sky area.

The Sky paint looks like it went on really well, John (@j-healy). I have never used Xtracolor paint before, but it looks like it went on very well.

Thanks, guys. Xtracolor is my favorite paint, George. All gloss finishes that spray super smooth. Tom, you’re right about the paint sequence. I usually do it the way you described but didn’t have enough time to mask the canopies on Friday. I did have enough time to spray the Sky. Back to the paint shop on Monday. And yes, what an awesome modeling year! Two Gannets! I’m also looking forward to that Airfix Bulldog.

Extra Dark Sea Grey applied today. Xtracolor, God’s own paint. If you build one of these, be careful removing the clear parts from the sprue. They have a couple of attachment points that are pretty large. Instead of doing the right thing and sawing mine off, I used a sprue cutter and #11 blade. This resulted in a tiny crack in second cockpit’s canopy.
