Jeremy, which cutting machine are you using?

Ditto for me, Jeremy (@jmillan). Which machine did you use to cut the masks?

@jamesb @gblair I used an industrial one at work called a Summa Flex. But most people use desktop vinyl cutters like the Silhouette Cameo. I heard it works good.

Thanks, Jeremy. My wife has a couple of different cutters that I can try. Appreciate the info.

Cool, I've been curiously looking at a few of those and I've been following a Facebook group dedicated to using them for models.

Jeremy - just been checking the Summa line, and the cheapest here in Denmark is roughly 2500USD. That may be a bit over my budget. In order not to clog up your build, would there be any interest in sharing some experiences on different models of cutters in the "General Modeling" group? (the Summa looks like it would be perfect though 🙂 )

@airbum Erik the Summa is the only one I have ever used because that’s what we have at work. It’s over kill for what scale modelers would use it for. It’s mainly for larger size jobs. I do not own a vinyl cutter personally. From what I’ve seen online most modelers use desktop vinyl cutters like the silhouette and cricut . That’s about all I really know. Thanks

I think I’m starting to get closer to finishing the pony. Got the anti-glare panel painted OD and applied a light grey oil wash to panel lines. I skipped the gloss coat this time since there is no decals and started the weathering right on top of the paint with oils and soft pastels. Also this is the first time I tried airbrushing the exhaust stains and doing a little post shading. I used highly thinned black and white paint with alcohol to build up the paint slowly. It dries almost instantly when it hits the surface. Just need to add all the little parts now and see how it looks. Almost there.

Very nice NMF effect. I particularly like the "gas spills" on the wing tanks. This is really an outstanding result coming along here.

Great progress, Jeremy! love the airbrushed stains, an area I was not good in the past that I might revisit and thanks for that inspiration!
I also echo Tom's and Erik's comments for your finish and weathering!

Everything is coming together nicely, Jeremy (@jmillan). Stains are subtle and look very good.

    Compliments on the weathering, Jeremy.
Gas spill really shows fantastic like mentioned by Tom.
Airbrushing exhaust stains is something I also need to practice since this looks very real.
