This thing is massive and cockpit is just very well detailed. For nose weight i used 3 3/8 and one 5/16 nuts. 1/48 F-23 nose gear solved. Cut oleo from the main strut. Drilled hole through strut, oleo and tire. Yes a drill bit was sacrificed . I cut the drill and used it as the pin. So there is a little pin sticking out in between the strut and tire. Pin is 3/4 in the strut. So now the nose gear is solid . Only took fifteen minutes to do 🙂

    Cheers Brian

Wow...FOUR "lug" nuts for nose weight? Are you being overly cautious or did you determine that that much ballast was necessary? Makes one wonder how the real airplane was balanced so as to remain on its' nose gear. Nice detail work, too.

Its small nut 3/8 and 5/16. If you dont add weight it will sit on its tail.

Imaginative idea on the gear strengthening, gotta save that one.

I'll definitely be following this one Brian. I've watched a couple of documentaries recently about yf-22 and the yf-23 prototypes. It seems the general concensus was that the yf-23 was a much faster, stealthier aircraft. However the yf-22 was more manoeuvreable and ultimately cheaper to put into production.
Which one will you be modelling, the grey ghost or the black widow 2?
