Very clean build!
My father, Maj. Alden Rigby Ret., flew Col. Meyer's wing many times during his tour. He was in Meyer's flight (White 4) on the morning of Jan. 1, 1945, when their base (Y-29) came under attack. Meyer was flying "Petie 3rd" and Rigby was flying his personal AC "Eleen and Jerry". Meyer downed two Fw-190's and Rigby downed two Fw-190's and two Bf-109's.
Dad's first missions in his new P-51D-15 (415629) were from Y-29, beginning Dec. 23, '44. Photo's show that even new AC showed a lot of wear and tear very soon while operating from the forward base at Asch.
I am anxious to see how the build turns out. Gotta love those Bluenosers!
