Since i got the Skyraider done in USS MIDWAY markings i deciced to build a F-4B and A-6A from the USS MIDWAY. I will be using the Eduard ( Academy ) F-4B and Hobby Boss A-6A.There is a reason for the white plastic between pilot and RIO. When dry fitting tub with instrument panel and ejection seats. You could not get the tub all the way up inframe because of interference of the plastic in middle of the airframe . Problem solved just cut the center section out and use plastic stock glued to front cockpit bulk head. The pilots are glued to the seat. If you decide to put figures in the cockpit you have to glue figures and seat to cockpit before installingin airframe. Pilots wont go in from the top. The hobby boss A-6A fit is was better then the crappy kinetic kit.

Brian: I was considering the Kinetic A-6, though other than you, I don't know anyone who had one. I am impressed with the HB, recent buy.
Were the crew figures with the F4 kit? Or Hasegawa? I didn't think anybody was including figures, these days.
I see the rear cockpit is now correct, or closer than Hasegawas.
I'll look forward to seeing the air group on deck. Love that BuAir!

Dont buy the Kinetic kit. The fit is real nasty, i tossed mine in the trash. The HB kit much better fit. The pilots com with the F-4 kit.

Will be looking in as I'm considering the same. You appear to have made a good start.
Attached photos may help, taken aboard the Midway (now a museum in San Diego and worth the price of admission) a few years ago. A shame that you canned the A-6, but have heard the Kitty Hawk kits leave a lot to be desired.

Finally somemore progress on the F-4B and A6-6A I really ike the Academy F-4 cockpit beter then the Hasegawa kit. Academy kit offers more detail and lots of weapons. The Treumpeter A-6A is allot better then the Kinetic kit. I had the kit once and did not like it. Fit was horriable and so was detail. The intruder will be built in landing mode and after it just landed. Still lots of detal to be painted on F-4B Pilot and RIO. So stayed tuned my friends 🙂

Brian, good progress on the A-6A.Looks ready for the paint shop.
Agree, the Academy F4 cockpit is a real improvement over the Hasegawa. I suspect their F4 cockpits have a generic F4E cockpit in whichever Phantom, 'cept for the G.
Navy Phantoms have different consoles in the rear pit.
The crew figures ain't bad, either.

Well i got allot done onn both kits in the last few days. The Academy F-4 pilot and RIO are really nice. Lot more detailed then the hasegawa crew. Time to start major glue of various parts .

Pretty amazed ith the Hobby Boss Intruder intruder. Simple dry brushing really pops out the detail.
